woods and steel?

Well it was open before then, but ungroomed. Been up there twice in the last two days (25th and 26th).

Was nice on the 25th, not many people had been through. Today I noticed more traffic and more wear and bumpy.

Planning on going again tomorrow and Sunday.

Not sure of the exact location, but the gate on 4510 about 4 miles from the "playground" after the intersection of 111 on the windy pass loop was still closed, but you could get around it. Some people had gone off trail at the meadow just beyond the playground, but there were stumps showing! I did not venture into that area.

Due to the winds, there was not much snow in hickes butte area. The powder had been blown away and there was exposed dirt in some areas. No one had continued on the trail at that point.

Also, 4517 from Fowler Creek road to 117 to 118 to w&s was well covered, but had many dips. We need more snow to fill them out. Still it was a great section to ride.

Windy pass gates were opened today, the 26 dec, the loop was groomed also, but snowing hard around 9:00pm.

At least 1 foot of fresh fell last night at 2,500 ft elevation at Exit 78 (Golf Course exit) I-90 and it is still snowing heavy at this time.

Looks like there should be lots of new powder on the trail today!!!!

ya, B/S if been playing rock band all morn waiting. I live on the pass, but my buddies live in north bend. I just saw the closure after the last post. I need to find some avid riders up here cuz the pass seems to close every weekend now days. I've got a couple buddies on the east side, but couldn't make it today:mad:

All that fresh turned to Cascade concrete today---we were in Easton and it was awesome till about 9:30 this morning and the freezing rain started and it went down hill from there.

Good thing is it will create some sort of base pack now!

H20SKE...

Did the windy pass loop today and it was great. Maybe that wet stuff hurt easton but up high there was about 8 inches of new powder which covered a lot of the previous rides.

Very few people did the windy pass loop and it was awesome. No dips or bump, smooth as silk doing about 30 mph on it.

What was with that group of 16 riders? When the lead guy flashed me five fingers 3 times and then a one, I thought he was being silly. That was until all 16 passed. Unfortunately the people in the group did not know their own numbers or the system.

Caught back up with them at the playground.

Those big groups are dangerous. I was highballing back from Buck Meadow area last year and met a group where the leader flashed 5 several times....The first few knew what they were doing. After I met about the 3 one in a curve on MY SIDE, I just pulled over and parked for a bit.......I think it a Holiday season thing......Should calm down in a week.
