Woo hoo--my daughter's going to State!

She played in her golf regional tournament this week -- she's been struggling with her swing; only played in 2 tournamnets this year and barely broke 100. Her best HS round had been an 88 in the regionals last year.

The pressure was REALLY on her -- two of her teammates are consistent; one always shoots in the 70's and the other in the mid-80's. They need 3 golfers to qualify for State in order to compete for the team title.

So she steps up and...














...shoots an 80! Lipped out her par putt on the 17th hole and left her birdie putt on her 18th hole on the left edge about an inch away so just missed a 79, but she didn't mind.

She only finished 3 shots out of 1st place, 3 of the top 4 finishers are playing Division I golf next year.

What a fun round to watch!

The sucky part is, she probably could have been a lot better if it weren't for her mom (my ex-wife). Steph didn't get to play a lot until her sophomore year, when she could drive by herself. Her mom is basically like Adam Sandler's mom in "The Waterboy", she hates golf and doesn't think Steph should play at all. I'm sure it really pizzes her off, too, that Steph would rather be at my house where she can do these instead of sitting around all the time:
