womans sno cross in the Xgames

Hello, I am a woman snowmobiler from Montana, and I am trying to find out who to talk to about getting women's snocross in the up and coming X GAMES. I went to the X-GAMES in 2000 for snowboarder X and would love to compete in a womens snocross. I am an extremly fast rider and would love to show the world my potental at the Xgames. so if anyone has any pull with the x games please respond to this letter. sandy

good luck.. Ten+ years ago we had some discussion (back when the X games still included ice climbing... boring) and there was no interest... but maybe the right women... might happen but the promoters want "big air" so be prepared

that's a good idea hardass!!!

sandy, can you just run the men's class next year and maybe make it in the mens class?? i wish I knew a little more about the snowx and freestyle scene but I'm pretty wrapped up in the mtn riding scene. if I think of anything I will let you know...

but like hardass said it's SURE to turn some heads and raise some awareness if you can make it in the mens class!! You hav eto prove to the promoters that the crowd wants to see you (and/or other chicks) and I'm guessing you might just have to be REALLY bada$$ and show up racing in the mens class with a HUGE following and the crowd going nuts for them to SEE that there is a 'scene' around women's riding. It's a business for them and they have to see that they can make money and that women will draw a crowd! It's going to take a LOT of work from you and other women that race with you... :( bummer but that's the truth! Good luck and let me know if I can help out somehow even though nearly all my connections and passion is in the mtn riding scene...

I would honestly say your best bet is to race the mens class, I just do not think there would be enough interest for them to run womens classes. I still want them to bring back the hillcross they used to have.

That's the problem... I set up a girl's class for a hill climb race here, expecting to get some competition, but no one signed up. I was the only girl that raced, so I guess I won my class, but it felt kinda cheesy.

If you start riding with the boys this year, you might get some other girls stoked to compete next year and eventually build up a class for women. You are very brave to be wanting to be the first girl to do this (if you are the first), but be prepared for some hard work to break into it.

Good luck!!!

If you wanted to create a division, you'd essentially have to bring the field to the promoters. IF you brought them 8 solid women, you'd have a chance, but for one woman to expect that the field will be created around her is unrealistic.

They will want you to race on the same course (Women's boardercross & skiercross do) as the men as well.

I think it's doable, but YOU would need to do the legwork for them.

x2 to the above! Try and get in touch with Ashley Chaffin, she races (or at least used to), is well-known in the sport and goes large. Having her on board should get your cause some more attention. Dani Medin is another. Send something around on facebook to all your friends (male or female) who give a crap about snowcross. Finding the women to race at that calibur, on an x-games track, will be your biggest challenge. Like has been mentioned, BIG air is the focus with the x-games tracks, and I have never personally seen a female racer who I feel would be capable of riding that track the way it's designed to be ridden - MAYBE Ashley Chaffin could pull pull it off. Not to say that you (original poster) aren't capable because I have never seen you race, but I'm just saying there probably are not gonna be very many women around who could ride that track and entertain on a level close to the men.
