Wolf Hunts Are On - At Least For Now

Not enough money offered is all that means. Now they will try to get more donations and offer even more next time. If the amount is up to snuff for Malloy, he will grant it.

Its amazing how passionate and how much money people will spend to keep a wild dog around. In this case indecision is a good decision. Ol Gillette from the Idaho anti wolf coalition is going to have a hey day down in the Stanley area tommarro. He will probably be out there at midnight tonight.

The only problem is that if Molloy does place an injunciton on the hunt in the next day or two, will the tags still be refundable? There are only 4 areas that open tomorrow and the other 8 will have to wait until Ocotober. If I remember right, Montana's season opens the 15th of Sept.

One more step in the right direction.

Now just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I haven't been following this too closely, do you mean enviros offering money for reimbursing livestock owners for damages, or money under the table to "unnamed parties"? Even when they reimburse for livestock losses, that does nothing for all the wildlife losses, and how many out-of-staters are going to come to MT or ID to hunt when the game is getting killed off by wolves?:face-icon-small-con

I thought Molloy usually leaned in favor of enviros in his rulings...

Gov Schweitzer said "If some old judge says we can't (hunt wolves), we'll take it back to another judge". Kinda funny coming from a leftie democrat governor, but he always tries to sound like a middle-of-the-roader. Don't look at his spending and govt. expansion record though... turned our state surplus into nothing in pretty short order... but I digress.

Mitch, did you buy your tag yet? :)

edit: just got mine to go through online.

I'm talking under the table to MALLOY. Not unnamed parties ;)

Yes, he does

He knows the general public has a very short memory. He's moving back to the right temporarily so we "forget" which way he's been leaning.

Wow, Lochsa. We've been berry picking up there a few times recently and noticed all the wild dog crap on the trails up there yesterday. Had both the dogs with us each time. Our "roaming" dog we kept close by because she kept getting distracted with stuff in the distance.

Good luck to all the hunters out there. Here's hoping for a better elk/deer season this year.
