Wolf Creek Avy claims life of employee

Very Sad

Ya I heard that this afternoon as well. Very sad deal:face-icon-small-sad. Just another reminder that it can happen to anyone of us at anytime regardless of equiptment or training. Best advice is to watch out for eachother and just try to avoid situations like these. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Condolences to the family and friends. :face-icon-small-sad
Sure hope this isn't a sign of the upcoming season.

What equipment? I've never seen a single Ski patrol guy with avy gear, well with the exception of sliverton Mtn.

I know for a fact that some of the patrol at telluride and wolf creek wear beacons. Now I can not say if this patroler was wearing one. I know for sure I will be wearing one tomorrow as I will be riding not far from the resort. Be safe everyone

The sad thing is he did have a becon and radio BUT was by himself on avalanche route checking conditions.

He did not respond to radio page and they went looking for him, spotted avalanche and use beacon and poles to retrieve him.

He was head of the ski patrol. Terrible situation and reminder to not break the rules.
