Wiseco's? in 09 700RMK

Anyone have a opinion on wiseco's in the 09 700's? I have some piston slap with the stockers, and I'm hoping that a 2 ringer will be better than a single ring piston? or any another ideas that might extend durability?

Thanks

I put wiseco pistons in my 08 700 2 seasons ago and haven't had any issues. The sled runs good, performance didn't really change any. They sure are pretty when you're putting them in.

MTNClimber19-Did you notice less piston slap at low rpm's with the wiseco's? also how's the sledding around Sheridan(sp?) my brother just moved there, might do a rode trip with sleds.

k heres the thing, a single ring piston lacks, it honestly does, the piston transfers its heat and energy through the piston rings....

so that being said, you do get power gains from a dual ring piston, mainly from the fact that it will seal much better and hold higher compression, also it wont heat soak so easy... those longer pulls of WOT the single rings have a big tendency to loose power and rpm's from just getting too hot....

so wiseco's are a GREAT piston, and if your OEM pistons are a dual ring, i'd say hey go use your oem piston.... but since what i've read is that its not stock a dual ring.... but come as a single...., i'd go aftermarket FOR THE DUAL RING

ive got wiseco's in my old beater 99 polaris 700 RMK, beat the hell outta that thing im surprised it hasnt blown yet, and shes still got great compression and kicking, and wellm y turbo sled, and street bike lol :bounce:

hell i've got wiseco's in every single engine ive rebuilt, dirtbikes, car engines, snowmobiles, street bikes... i have not had 1 issue at all... they are a great piston....

so yeah go dual ring because it is a upgrade and at no extra cost its a no brainer... they hold compression BETTER and for LONGER due to 2 rings to wear, so you may change pistons by 3k km's (just a example) because compressions getting low, losing power, but a dual ring your compression chances are will be maybe 5 psi less if that than new

Thats something ive been fighting with all fall and well I have 3000 miles on my original oem pistons. If it aint broke dont fix it right. I think its all a shot in the dark your damned if you do your damned if you dont. i thought about putting in dual rings then someone pipes up about dual rings crack because they are weaker or some bs about cracks in between the rings could be very true. Stories about wiscos seizing. single rings have to much slap.. Well morsno answered my question about having 3000 trouble free miles. Thats what i was thinking but thought i would ask. Bad idea sometimes. But on the other note ordered OEM pistons so I DONT know what the cylinders look like or pistons. I guess my point is I think anyone will be good for the 700 I just decided to try OEM They have worked so far

never too late to just return the pistons as long as you dont put them in...

now the whole wiseco fiscal or dual rings is all bunk, it honestly it is, i think it was piston makers or brands bad mouthing wiseco.... but tbh ive never heard of dual ring issues... never...

but yeah you get piston makers like i dont know, spi, mcb, and say they may say something about wiseco or try to bad mouth them to get sales (probably) but heres the thing, is wiseco isnt around on these forums or sitees trying to sell their pistons.... so thats probably why the idea of wiseco seizes or "seizeco"

or people say WISECOS SEIZE IF YOU DONT LET SLED WARM UP... well yeah of course you should let ANY engine warm up before ripping on it, if you dont you ARE asking for ANY piston to SEIZE or something to happen...

its mind boggling to me why OEM has used single ring, its a actual upgrade to go to 2 rings, the pistons last longer as a whole, and dont wear as much just because they dont get so hot, you dont get power fade from over heating... and compression sustained way better....

but yeah, ive literally dropped wiseco into 10 rebuilt motors, all being "high performance" motors that i ratbag and i havent had any issues, ive had cast fail on me before,.....

I think polaris needs to give me a sled and wiseco nedds to give me a sled and I will ride the chit out of them all winter put the same amount of miles on them and at the end of the season and tear them both down and look at walls and pistons to see what one does the best Now thats a good friggin idea. Like I said i still havent torn it down so if there is obvious damage from slap then I will probably return them but if not and everything is to spec I will toss them in and hope for another 3k

Sevenhundo-sign me up for that free sled and piston program! do you spec out your piston to cylinder clearance? if so have you ever found them out of specs? also not sure how to do it?

wiseco holes

this is what i experienced, slp porting and performance pipe/reflash.dropped a cylinder, not uncommon(a little for the 700) pto side, went with wiseco, got a reniked cylinder, heat cycle, all good, went for a ride, got a mile, burned same side, checked everything! no issues, talked around, and was told about drilling holes in the skirt of wiseco pistons
so i tried it 1/8 hole on the intake side where there are no ports(2 per), chamfered the holes
sled ran great, i believe it still does(sold it), is it the piston clearance, is it the lack of lubrication being able to get in there at temp, i don't know
probably of no help, but that is an option

The wifes 09 700 has 800 miles on the wiseco's with no problems, we always make sure it's properly warmed up before we take off.

Love my 700, but don't like the oem pistons, going with Wisecos on next rebuild just because.

Hey guys,
I should just stop reading all together, I have my cylinders off getting them ported and now I'm considering putting pistons in it while it's apart. I wish you guys would stop costing me money.

shmuckaluck- I feel your pain, My 700 runs fine but sounds like a ford powerstroke at idle. The sad part is that I just put stock pistons in 400 miles ago.

I never noticed any "slap" before changing pistons, I had originally picked up oem pistons from the dealer but when I got home and measured them one was slightly larger than the other. I took them along with my calipers back to the dealer and we measured 2 more pistons and no two matched. The wiseco's measured exactly the same piston to piston.
