WISECO pistons????

OK, I had a over heat melt down on my 06,900 fusion at end of last season, snow flap got caught up under track on 50 degree day and ran 240 degrees. Still ran good, got mer back to camp but after compresion check, 120 per cylinder so checked and found both pistons were scuffed up so tore it down, cleaned up jugs with acid and rehoned, they look great, New crank seals and new clutch cause I melted sheeves pretty bad. Got new top end kit today from WISECO and ready to finish rebuild and a friend on HCS said WISECO pistons were a bad idea for it, already have them so gonna put together and hope for the best.

Plus, when I opened the boxes for the new pistons, they dont look like any WISECO pistons I've ever used in a sled, All polished/grooved aluminum, no BLACK on them. They are WISECO's but have no wiseco name on them, only part #
Anyone here have any thoughts on or expirience with WISECO pistons in their 900??

As some know here and other dont, havent been on for a while,
I have a DYNOPORT full pipe kit and custom highflow air intake.

I've always have heard to use nothing but the oem 2006 pistons in the 9's.

But, have always had good luck with wiseco in bikes and sleds. I am also a very firm believer in letting a 2-strokes warm up to operating temp before moving it out of it'''s tracks.............an absolute must (130*) at least to avoid cold seizure

my $0.02

I have the wiseco's in mine.like you I had them ordered before I was told they weren't ideal.
I haven't had any problems that are piston specific yet, just be sure to warm it up and heat sink it properly every time and you should be fine

The issue with Wiseco's is if they're not allowed to warm up properly you will seize up a piston. Just give your motor a chance to warm up before you hit the throttle and you'll be fine. BTW, I am running Wiseco's and they looked just like yours, and so far im happy with them.

More importantly.... make sure the piston/wall clearance and the ring gap is within specs of Wiseco's instructions.

Been using them for a many years, so far not 1 piston failure.

I hope the Wiseco pistons are as good as they look, Just bought a Boondocker NOS system from a fellow Snowester. Any thoughts guys??

Wiseco

I just rebuilt mine over the summer and have been running the pi** out of it and not a problem. Make sure you warm up the sled first, shut it down to heat soak then run nice and easy up the trail in the beginning and you will have no problems. The pistons are meant to race but you need to make sure everything is warmed up.

SLP head
Wiseco pistons
MBRP can
Plugged compression holes
radiator delete
VForce reeds
Removed exhaust valve pump
And other top secret stuff
Hauls like nothing I have ever ridden before!

Got up to Tug Hill and rode it for just under 100 miles, mostly groomed trail but did some nice jumps and tearing through the untouched woods and a little climbing. very pleased with the power and throaty sound it makes now. Once I get up to a good groomed trail cruising speed of 70+ it sounds like a NASCAR, It truely feel a lot more early HP and it has a more consistant throttle response. So far, very happy with the WISECO pistons.
Gonna fog it next Saturday and wait for next season. Time to focus on the Grass machine.

Never had a problem with the W's you should always warm up before ya ride!! Usually start 'em up, warm to temp then off the trailer and let sit while everyone gets ready..
Whatya mean FOG it next weekend put some miles on 'er

Issue with wiseco's will be scuffing on your cylinders if not warmed up good because the clearances are a little tight for them and the expansion rate of the pistons and the cylinders is different.

we're about done here in NY.(not that we ever got any good stuff this season.) I'm waiting 1 more week for ridable snow then, fog time.
