wiring info rotax into wedge help !!!

i just put a 583 into my 91 500 indy chassis . It runs and rides great .

I built a rectifyer\regulator but , my lights are pretty dim.

so my question is , what have others done to solve this problem ?
I know the skidoo chassis didn`t have electric start (so its a.c. only ).

thank you ,
jeff

left the polaris one in.
I ended up using a 1984 honda 450 hawk rectifier .
I went from the stator(yellow) to the rectifier . then the other yellow wire from the stator is hooked up to engine ground and the brown wires coming out of the polaris harness .
then from the rectifier to the yellow wires coming out of the polaris harness.
does that sound right ?

Ive got lights and a tach , but the tach is reading twice what it should .
do I need to use the doo tach ?

thanks for the input ...

J

Your wiring sounds correct and you answered your own question you do need to use the skidoo tach... The pulse is different just like the previous poster stated. Switch it out and you should be good to go.

right on , thanks for confirming my wiring and tach issues.

One more quick question - my 583 has twin pipes , polaris clutch, union bay head, and been ported .

my question : do you think that engine can handle a 151x2x15 track ?

TANKS AGAIN ....

You don't need a doo tach. I have put a few 670's in wedge chassis's. I use a pol. tach off a 700 just because it has a big face. What I did was find a pol. harness from the engine side and wire it into the doo wires. Match up the wires from the chassis side. Be sure to run a ground from chassis to engine also. I used a doo regulator, no rectifier. I have run these for a few years, no problems. You would be better off with a 670 in your chassis. You would not believe the power these motors make with a little port work.

Oh yeah. Your making decent power with those mods geared down that sled will pull that track just fine.
Sled looks good. Motor looks right at home in there. How long of a track do you have now?

The Pulse in a 91 Indy 500 that he is using is different than the 700 tack your using. It would just be easier for him to use the Ski-doo tack to solve this problem.
