This is a step in the right direction but they still need support.

ACTION ALERT!!!
The USFS has released their new winter travel management rule, pursuant to the Court Decision on the Winter Wildland's matter!

After our initial review of the Proposed Rule, we are optimistic on the proposal for the following reasons:

1. The proposed rule recognizes that off trail snowmobile riding is a valid usage of NFS lands that should be continued, and is highly valued especially in the Western United States;

2. The proposed rule continues existing management decisions regarding over the snow vehicles, which means the riding area boundaries will not change as a result of the new rule and riding opportunities you will have this year are the same areas as you had last year; and

3. The proposed rule recognizes that open riding area boundaries are significantly larger for winter travel than summer travel and open riding areas for winter .

We need your comments to make sure the USFS can support the decision!!!! Any personal information you are able to provide about your participation in existing winter travel plans is HIGHLY valuable. Colorado has a large number of the winter travel plans already in place.

Done! Come on all ya sledders. Here is your chance to speak up!!! Takes 2 minutes.

I think we should all take more than 2 minutes. Think about your comments carefully. These are college intellectual types running the show. They do often respond to reasoned supported arguments, make one:face-icon-small-win They probably respond to "I want more comments" the same way parents respond to children constanly making similar requests, it falls on deaf ears.

They really do not want to have to enforce a trails only policy on sleds. That is a nightmare for them, they can't handle the ATVs in the summer, they do not want this.

We need to give them GOOD reasons, supported arguments. We really need some "talking points"... you can laugh but that is how this system works. That is how the greenies have made such inroads.

REMINDER: Your comments on the new USFS Winter Travel rule are DUE BY August 4th, 2014. CSA's feeling is that: CSA supports the winter travel Rule with the minor modifications to the definition of an over the snow vehicle. The Rule provides a science based management structure and recognizes the significant NEPA based snowmobile management efforts already in place should be carried forward. The Rule also recognized that open riding areas are much larger for winter travel, possibly larger than a ranger district, as a result of significant snowfalls in the west....READ MORE in the attached web-link!
