Winter tires for 3/4ton dodge

I'll be picking up a 2000 3/4t dodge soon for sled hauling - what size of boots will give the best 'winter' (snow and ice) grip for hauling around an enclosed 27' trailer? Stock tires are 254/75R16, should I keep the narrow width or go with a wider tire? I don't do any wild offroad hauling, mostly looking for safe highway/secondary cruising performance.

Thanks

DON'T go wide for winter. It reduces the traction by distributing the weight of the truck over a wider "footprint". Stick with stock size or taller, just not wider.

If i was you, like said before, don't go wider just get a little taller tire with agressive tread and sipe(sp?) em. it'll get you around dam good,

with wide tires you might as put skis on all four corners.

I know of a guy running 285/75/16 Kelly MSR's with no problems. But then again they're siped and studded.
