Windows 7 for $30 Must have a student .edu email address

Where do I get Linux? I'd like to try it.

Ubuntu's probably the most straightforward. Fedora's not bad either, but a little more setup involved than ubuntu.

Slackware's good, highly customizable, but it's one of the more difficult to get up and running.

If you go to a SD school you can get Windows 7 for free. I've had it for 2 weeks now and I'm pretty impressed so far.

I believe its the state schools, talk to you network/computer admin at your school. I go to Mines and I can download it for free. I think my bro could to at USD so check if your school has a site like this for you http://msdn01.e-academy.com/elms/Storefront/Home.aspx?campus=sdsmt_msdnaa

Yeah, we had MSDN download access to when I was in school(I'm not anymore), I just thought you meant some different type of program. My sister goes to Augie, but I don't think she has access to any of the MSDN stuff.

Mule just don't like Windoze!

Actually Windows 7 is not too bad. I ran the beta version for the last year and really liked it better than Vista. It has a better file system and some of the Vista junk is cleaned up. It's like a mature version of Vista. I still run XP on a seperate partition in Boot Camp on my Mac because I'm not huge on Vista. I have Vista on an IBM laptop too, but that doesnt' get used as much.
