Will this be covered by the warranty?

One of the hood hold downs on my 09 M1000 just broke off, Veryone said they brake from the cold, it like 90 outside and I was in my garage. I put the rubber hold down on and it didn't work, so I took a closer look and the nub was broke. Will this be covered under warranty? I'll ask the dealer next week but I wanted to ask if anyone has been able to get this warrantied.

no sir. already asked. **** happens with a ****ty design. i love my cat, but come on, that is weak! cutlers said they'd sink a wood screw in it for me...:beer; kinda sucks but oh well. still the best sleds ever

I broke both of mine off on purpose before the sled even hit the snow last season. You dont want them to come off in a rollover and destroy the hood anyways. I put 2 1-1/2" self tapping 3/8s screws in on both of my M's. Hoods never come open in a smash and crash.

The Cat rep told me this is a non issue and isolated incident and that there are no reports of breaking hoods in this area. Also went to to tell me that cat doesn't warrantee parts affected by jumping their sleds... What a tool.

Thats funny given the first M releasd suffered from the same weak design :face-icon-small-dis

Its a flaw that Im surprised they have let go this long6 seasons? Would be easy to engineer something a little diff. We dont jump these sleds what is AC thinkin?

Ya geez who would ever think of jumping their snowmobile, thats just crazy. So it sounds like it depends on the dealer. Great! My dealer can't keep an employee for more than a few months so its always up in the air. All I can do is try.

There is a kit out there from A.C. that consists of two machined pins that can be installed in the area where the tab broke off. All you have to do is grind the area flat where the tab broke off then drill a hole for the pins and insert the pins into the holes with a plastic hammer. The pins are made a little oversized of the hole to ensure a good tight fit. The kit works well and looks good. The number for the kit is 5639-498 and the cost is about $21.

Hope this helps Jeff

Soooo it's a none issue but yet they have designed a fix for it.... Great customer service. They repeatedly make us look like idiots sell us high dollar sleds then we buy parts to fix the short comings.

If your sled is under warranty they will pay to install the kit. Unless your dealer is really poor. I installed 2 this spring and cat covered parts and labor for the customer.
