Will sled wreck my lawn?

I might need to unload my sleds for a day or two, if I drive them across my lawn will it tear up the grass?

Not unless you decide to hit the flipper w/o. Some of my friends tend to hold grass drags in my lawn every once and a while, sure pizzes the wife off. Even that doesn't do a lot of damage with the long tracks. The short trackers with the studs do more. It looks like it won't ever grow back where they start but it always does. It will be fine.:face-icon-small-win

I wouldn't do it if it is muddy or anything but if you take it easy you should be fine.

If you ride like a white man it should be fine.....walk beside it for the least weight if you're really worried. I'm also fussy with the lawn and I do it occasionally without issue.

What does it mean to ride like a white man??

My friends ever do that, there will some as$ kickin goin on. I spend several hours a day in the summer working on my lawn.

Yeah, I know several Native Americans and Mexicans that ride sleds. Are you saying they are crazy and insane? :bolt:

Carbides destroy lawns more so than anything tbh. So make sure you keep your skis straight the whole time they are in the grass. Any kind of turning makes nice shred lines in the grass. Even brappin the throttle a little bit doesn't hurt it, just don't spin the track too much ;)

if the ground is froze you will not do any damage. Like I told one of my wifes hippy tree hugger coworkers who like to snow shoe. I said you walking with your boots on puts more weight on the ground than me riding my 600 lbs sled across your lawn.

Actually it will enhance grass growth. The more studs the better.

You are actually areating the lawn by doing that.....

Make several passes in each direction and your spring grass will look great!

I never read the thread, but from the title it's natural to presume you are wanting to mount a front mower deck on your sled.

1st off, you are thinking outside the box & I respect that.

However, this is truly one of the dumber ideas I've heard in a long time.
Many obstacles to overcome.

Do you plan to engineer some type of PTO to drive the blades?
You could use a seperate engine to power the mower I reckon.

You are going to experience excessive hyfax wear.
I suppose you could install ample extra bogie wheels.

You are going to need to use a fan cooled sled, unless you are mowing in the dead of winter.

One plus is the decorative lines your carbides will leave, much like the "directional lines" professionals leave on football & baseball fields.

But really this idea is nothing more than sheer nonsense.
After all, I've yet to see a snowmobile with a cup holder to hold your beer.
And everyone knows the only reason we mow our own lawn is that it provides yet another occasion on which we consume that delicious elixer better known as beer.

If you weren't talking about mowing your lawn with your snowmobile, then simply disregard my comments as they will have little to no value for other applications.
