I have a Muffpot that I need to install on a 05 Rev Summit. I see where it will fit just right in front of the y pipe, my question is-Is it hot enough there to cook food? My thought is that it will be hot enough but in doing some research I came across some who said that they never got hot food from the Muffpot. Are you putting the Muffpot right against the heat shield? Some said they had to cut a portion of the heat shield to get hot food.

I also bought three extra hose clams to secure the base to the pipe, the last thing I need is for the clamp to break and have "Garlic Buttered Shrimp" bouncing around under the hood.

That is exactly where I put mine. I cut the heat shield away, dont think it would heat up enough with out . You have to ride fairly hard to get them hot. They do work had hot lasagna last saturday..

I have an 06 and have a muffpot mounted right after the y-pipe. Had some warm little smokies today. I rode pretty hard before lunch and mine is on top of the heat shield. They only got warm, not hot. Maybe will pull the heat shield to get better results.

On mine I cut away the heat shield under the pot and it works great. Boondocking cooks very well, as hot a you can eat, when you get out on the trail though it cools it off from all the cold air coming in the front end!!

OK I want hot food.....Are you guys cutting the aluminum shield and the insulation or just cutting the aluminum shield. How big of a hole are you cutting? Thanks.
