will a fuel controller fix 09 d8

I have a 09 d8, pto side piston went last yr @ 1400 miles ran good till than with the odd stumble. Got it fixed put 300 miles and ran the same. Got the recall done and all flashes done all up to date, and nothing but bogging issues this year. Boggs so bad can't even ride it. Dealer has looked at countless times said there is no fix. They want me to put a fuel controller in and if it doesn't work they wont charge me. Does it matter which one i choose i was thinking boondocker but they said pcIII or pcv. While this fix it.

Give Adam at SLP a call, he will most likely steer you to the PC-V. I would think you will like the results!

Maybe...depends what the problem really is. It's a snowmobile, sometimes you have to spend some money to figure out what is wrong. No two sleds are identical. I got my 09 D8 updated and went to the PCV and it ripped. I got it setup to how they should have been out of the box in the first place. If they all ran as good as mine, everyone would have been happy. Your dealer is a tool if he says there is no fix. There is a fix for everything, sometimes it costs money.

Give more information. Would you take a car to a mechanic and say "my car won't work" and expect it to be fixed? What is your clutching setup now? What elevation are you riding? What do you pull for RPM's? Have you checked piston wash or at least looked at your plugs?

My updated 08 D8 has had terrible bogging issues since the update too. From 6600 or so up it just would not run, bogged out like crazy. I gave up on the dealer and went with an AEM Air/Fuel guage only to find out that it was SUPER rich in the top end, put a Boondocker box on it, under an hour of fiddeling around out in the field I have it dialed right in now, so far all issues solved, I have been told by others that the Power Commander boxes are working great to solve that issue as well. ...just my 2 cents...

elevation is 2000 ft run 11-68 weights and switchback helix in sec. have used 10-68 and stock helix both run about the same. Check plugs during every ride always look good. Had it at Cooke City 2 week ago ran great there soon as i got home bogging again. Ran good the 2 times i was in Valmont and Mcbride last yr. Its been a real dog ever since recall at lower elevation. There are 8 @ the dealer right now all with simalar problem all 800's, 2008-2010 and short, mid and long tracks. I get 7900 rpm and then drops to 7200, before it bog @ 6000 - 6500 rpm. They told me clucthing was fine.

I'm not sure about clutching at that elevation, but I think stock clutching was 10-58. I had 10-60 with a PCV at 9,000+ and held 8200 RPM's consistantly. Sled ripped. Now I have a head mod and have moved up to 10-62's. Maybe someone else can chime in, but even at lower elevation that seems like a lot of weight.

x2!! Mine runs awesome now with the PCv as it did (and maybe better) when it was new before any breakdown/ updates. I would tell your dealer to take a hike and find one with answers. That's just a stupid thing to say.

I talked to Adam from slp he said guys are happy with pc-v. He recommended to get the slp signal pipe kit, and slp clutch kit to run with the pc-v for proper mapping. So i'm looking at $1200 for all this stuff. Does anybody run a pcv with stock pipe? I have a mbrp can on right now will it work with the slp pipe?

The SLP map should also work with the stock pipe.
The fuel controller fixes 2 problems. One, it allows you to add fuel where Polaris can't (due to them needing to pass emissions). This gets rid of the bog and most burn down and DET issues. Second it allows for leaning out the top end (which polaris left rich to prevent burndowns/warranty issues). This allowas the motor to produce the 154 hp it was designed to, instead of the 140-144 it is producing now.
So, yes it will solve your issues, once it is set up properly.

Where abouts are you located?

I am currently running 10-68's with a PCV w/Dynotech mapping and stock pipe/SLP can on my Assault at 2000' elevation and it works really well.

I had bogging and DET issues prior to the PCV (even with the 09 update and reflash). Now, my Assault pulls really well in powder or hard pack and I can hit 8200 rpm without issue. The PCV made the biggest difference.....very happy now.

The PCV made the difference just like jetting a carbed sled would.

Regina for me.

Aside from the PCV, I installed Dalton adjustable weights and an Ultimax 809 belt and kept the stock Polaris clutch spring/helix setup.

Its a nice combination overall and noticeably better performance on and off trail vs the stock 10 series weights, 1115 belt and stock fuel map. It accelerates well and is easier to boondock with in the powder because the engine revs much smoother (better throttle control). The power feels more linear throughout the rpm range.

I ordered the pc v cant wait. Also think of getting slp pipe set i see alot have been sold on the swap meet. Do they a big difference over the stock exhuast. Are running a stock pipe.

Was up at Candle Lake this weekend came back tuesday. The Assault ran awesome. I was running the Stoutner stock pipe map on the trails and the SLP map boondocking. There is a definite difference in the 2 maps. It pulled a 100 more rpm and alot harder with the SLP map, but the Stoutner map ran better on the trail rides with the kids. Just seemed better on fuel and didn't have the buzzy sound in the pipe at the midrange rpm's. Running the 10-66s, upgraded helix, stock pipe and SLP Pure Polaris can. The bog is gone and the falling on its face when you let off the throttle is gone too! Now I hope it holds together.:face-icon-small-hap
