Wildlife Officials Warn Snowmobilers To Stop Harassing Moose

Link did not work for me. It is not a secrete that Grand Lake has a major moose population. They will not budge from the trail and present a serious hazard.

Since the State Wildlife cops are aware of this, they should erect moose warning signs in the parking lots and trail intersections. Out of state rental customers have no clue as to how to deal with these animals especially if they have experience with deer that typically get out of the way.

As usual, this will become another rallying call to close down high country recreation to jeeps, atv, sleds, dirt bikes and even mountain bikes.

You know it just TICKS me off that people rassing moose can get away with it. I got trampled by a moose when I was 9, I didn't even see her until it was to late(she was in the swamp we were walking by). She had 2 calves, and we had a dog. She felt threatened and took after my mom, brother and I. I however didn't make it to safety. The dog got put down after that, NO the dog was not chasing her NOR were we inbetween her and her babies, but she just didn't like us there. OH yea, I grew up knowing wild life should be respected and always keep your distance!! ANYWAYS, my point is WTF do people think when they are messing with wild creatures? HOW is that cool??? I hope they catch the individuals doing that and put a HUGE fine on them!!! As now of course "snowmobilers" are terrible terrible people because we all do this...URGH!!!!! PFFT.....sorry for the rant!!!

I did an interview with a reporter named Haythorne for this story on Tuesday night, and he seemed like a great guy. Unfortunately he had to go to Limon to cover the officer shooting so I guess it did not make the version that aired.

I wanted to say that I was rooting for the moose to stomp the idiot on the sled into next week but that would not have been the best thing to say

We pulled something earlier this week that would make all of you sick. We had a member who created an alter to post a video on here of him running down a coyote, and running it over. 8-10 minutes of video chasing it, running it over twice.

I understand predators....use a gun for that which is legal in a humane way...it is cruel and sick to use a snowbike to do this kind of crap and make us all look like idiot hillbilly's. This guy thinks he is cool for his actions. He's a dirtbag that give us all a bad name!

It is well known that we have enviro-zealots watching this site (and others), and taking the pics, vids, and posts and using them for their own cause. I personally have seen their "reports" with things that have been pulled from here.

Sorry for off topic...but all of this stuff is NOT good for our sport. I've had to wait for moose before, getting separated from my group....oh well. It just proves the point that sleds aren't bad (as long as they aren't chasing), as the critters choose to use the sled tracks to get around. Our sleds could be noted as helpful to wildlife, if we didn't have idiots out there pulling this kind of stuff!!

Ohhhhh.......how we've thought about it. We even PM'd him about it and got ridiculous messages back before we closed the alter down. And others asked, begged, and told him to take the video down before we pulled the thread.

I will give no names...but here's what I will say....you can go to YouTube, and look for Snowbike vs Coyote....
