Wild X-Country Endurance Race

Not easy money.....

That's $30 000 to the winning team, but expect to spend half that much just to run the race. We are Team 25 and have spent our fair share of time leading this race in the past two years. You can go from first place to tenth place in no time buried in snow to your ears. Local knowledge plays a big part too, we have given it away twice now just before the last checkpoint. We finished second last year, maybe this year we'll get it.

That was '07 not last year

We did finish second last year, those results are the '07 results. The winning team used a route that was almost 100 miles longer but was easy going so they could do it at night....with gas stashed somewhere. We froze our asses off and had to go back to the Ranger Lake checkpoint at 4am to warm up, we were in the early stages of hypothermia and stuck in snow to our necks. Local knowledge is important. But all the teams bottlenecked at Ranger Lake until daylight and then it was breaking trail and the balls-to-the-wall for 40 miles of lakes to the finish, so the teams were all pretty close at the end. In '07 we had over an hour lead when we left the layover on the last day. Just 4 miles short of the last checkpoint I lost a lower A-arm that I had bent on the first day and DNF'ed.....heartbreaking after four days of punishment.

My appoligies! I thought that the 2007 results were from theh winter of 2007-2008. I should have looked when the race was held. Much respect and cudos for your efforts for even participating in such a heinous event and the best of luck this year!

Summit XP 800 154's

We have quite extensive reinforcements, our rear bumpers run right up to the chaincase for added tunnel rigidity. The skids have an extra 6-8 pounds of metal or so. This race is no place for HPG shocks either. Basically they are done up the way we set up snocross sleds back in the '90's. I put a new track on the day before the race and had 11 broken bars and 13 centre lugs missing 4 days later, but the big ports are to blame there so this season we will have unported tracks.
