Hey guys i am having problems with a 2009 800 assault.

When you first go start it you have to hold the throttle and the keep holding the throttle to keep it running all the lights are flickering and it acts like its flooding out. then after a little bit it idles good and lights work but then when you ride it and hit the throttle wide open in cuts out and backfires at 7200 rpm and some lights flash on gauge when it does this

We tried a new voltage regulator, ecm, stator.

Anyone had this problem or any tips to figure out????

Thank you!!!!

Have you checked both plugs and the exhaust valves to make sure one is not sticking? Start with the basics and let us know what you find.

sled

It has to be a electrical issue because when you first start it up it will barely run and the gauge and lights will flicker in and out even if its reved up!!! You can have the throttle pinned and it will barely move the sled then all of a sudden it kicks in and will run on low end but the cut out at higher speed.

It sounds like it could be your ECU, I know you said it was just replaced? Unplug the 3 small orange wires that come from the VR to the ECU and see if it runs normal then? If it runs fine you need a ECU. My sled did the same thing after a VR failure, the sled still ran but with the 3 orange wires unplugged the sled ran ok, when I switched on the brights with the 3 wires plugged in the ECU melted.

I would check your ground also to start simple. I forgot to tighten down the nut on mine once, and it ran real similar. Might be worth running another ground wire to another spot.

Exactly. This would be the first thing to doo...and run a seperate ground wire to the motor or mount nut.

Is the symptom EXACTLY the same after replacing all the parts? If so, I would be checking the TPS.

I would also be checking the throttle body boots very closely.
