wide powder skis

I've been looking for a pair of used Simmons Gen 2s but haven't found anything yet. I'll keep looking, but out of curiosity, are there other <preferably more affordable> skis that are just as wide and/or good in the deep stuff for 2-up riding?

Thanks.

Whos crazy enough to get rid of them sweet skiis? Just bite the bullet and go pay for em like we all did. I know they arent that cheap but they are sooo worth it!

Yea, I like mine too. I'd be very surprised if you found some in decent shape for sale. If you buy them new, at least you get to pick the color you want.

Max:D

Thanks for the info guys. Pretty much all my stucks yesterday were due to the stock narrow skis getting buried (ending up pointing vertical). Wide is the ticket I think.

I'll keep looking, maybe I'll get lucky. And if we get a big dump (still will probably happen) then I might get desperate and pay close to retail :")

Where do you find anything anything but concrete around here right now?

Gotta go where others don't :) We were in about a foot of soft on top of a really firm layer. Had to clear the road out to get there though. The problem is that the parking area is private land and although the owner is a sledder (and we've become friends) I'm guessing he doesn't want gobs of folks parking there.

We are both backcountry skiers and dug a pit and tested for instability. No nasty layers, at least where we were, it could have been different one bowl over, etc.

But go high (at least 6000')- that's where the snow still is. And be willing to carry a chainsaw to get there.

I have the Gen 2's on my 1 ton....

They do float but, on the trail with the dual carbides are a bear to turn sometimes. That being said on a sled with a heavy nose (like mine) they keep it from nose diving for sure. If you get them you won't be disappointed. John
