why V-nose trailers?

In the market for a new trailer. I want it to haul 4 sleds and fit in my garage which is 30 feet long. Also has to be aluminum and I want a lower model, i.e. wheels up into the box to lower height. I've found a few that may work, but I was loading up the other day and some one had a flat in front trailer. They drove 2 in and backed in the other 2. They left before I could ask how they liked it, but as I look am realizing I can get a bigger box, shorter and slightly lighter trailer and less money without the V-nose. My UTV;s don't drive out the v-nose and I only use it for sleds.

For now my 2 v nose options are:
triton lowboy 22 22 foot box and nose. and have them cut 12" off the tongue so it will fit in the garage. be a bit under 30'
Polaris (mission) trailer, 22 foot box and v-nose. 29' overall

The car hauler options are more extensive and I need to look at more but 1 is an ATC 24'box car hauler 28' overall.

Looking for peoples thoughts and opinions. Is a v-nose needed? By the time any of these is fully loaded with heater, etc, I'll be $20000 so hoping to get it right the first time.

Thanks

Couple of comments;

You say you use it for UTV also but in another statement you want low height, watch you rear door opening height so you don't screw yourself.

V-nose will pull easier, not a deal breaker but a factor none the less.
With only a rear entry door your trailer will instantly fill with smoke on cold start up = icky!
Also in my experience, the sleds seem to need to be warmed up a bit before the electronic reverse works well without sled stalling, so ability to drive out forward is nice.

Garage is 30'?
Does that meant you have 29' inside dimension to work with?
Are you going to want to get around the trailer without crawling over tongue?
Perhaps a swing-away tongue?

Do you HAVE to park it inside? I would rather buy the trailer I want instead of settling just so it fits in garage.
Seems like a waste of a good garage?

I have 30 feet inside garage to park it. I don't like having my stuff outside. good point on some sleds needing to be warm to go in reverse. The trailer I saw loaded in reverse, maybe that is why.

All the trailers will have 7 foot inside height, I just want to not be on top of the wheels for lower overall heights.

Does v nose pull better? one opinion is v nose is longer so side wind pushes more. Anyone with experience?

either way the enclosed is like a windsail more or less. and the v-nose is just going to cut through the air better than the flat front.

the v-nose aerodynamics is a big plus if you drive many miles...takes noticeably less throttle to pull above 50 mph than a flat nose...also the v-nose pulls thru side winds much better without as much sway, a big point if ice on the road is present....being able to load from either front or back is also a big plus if you get into a crowded parking lot or have to unload/load in a difficult situation...having done both, no contest for me, get the v-nose..:face-icon-small-win

i used a 16' car hauler non-v nose for part of a season. IMO the v-nose is the way to go.

have you looked at the charmac trisport? sits much lower than the traditional snowmobile trailers, rated for autos, and has a good amount of options. you should be able to get a 26' that is around 30' overall decked out with the accessories mentioned for under 20k pretty easy.

charmac trisport has a 6 foot v so I can only get a 20 foot box and still be under 30'. I want a 22'box so I can load 4 sleds from back or front. Otherwise a nice trailer!

i looked at a 26' trisport; i would think that you could easily fit 4 sleds in front ways??? facing rear is easy (we used a 24' this last weekend with (4) Pros)

I have a 16' box on mine and to get three in there I have to load from the front. After doing it a few times I'm going to reconfigure my ski glides a little and start always loading from the front. Much eaiser IMO and if there's only 2 sleds in there (most of my rides ) there seems to me more room in the v to get dressed withought having to move the sleds.

I couldn't see you having a problem fitting 4 in a 20' box either. Had a buddy with a 20' box, 4' nose. We fit 2 155"s and 2 163"s in from the back no problem. 4 163"s had to go in from the front though.

because you can drive out of them from the front. the v nose has virtually zero effect on wind resistance and thus mileage at all.

thanks for everyones feedback, it seems that a flat car hauler can work, but everyone prefers a v-nose. Darn, I was hoping I was on to something.

I would like someone to chime in with a 20 foot box, can you load 4 163's from the back? When I measure mine I need 10'6 or 21' over all so loading from front the tunnels can fit in the nose a foot, but if loading from the rear I don't think they would fit.

thanks

leaning towards the polaris or mission trailer right now, as can get heater and all other options I want from the factory. But I have been very happy with my Triton and adding in heater myself will make it $1000 less, but more work.

Thanks for the input.

I have a triton that I bought in 2001 that has the 20' box. What was once a 4 place has turned into a three place.

We put 3 150 class sleds and 1 163 in what I think is either a 20 or 22ft box (I cant remember which it is) but we had to load them all backwards from the front so the tunnels stuck up into the v-nose. Pretty sure that is how you would have to load 4 160's in a 20. Could have probably gone in forward if we would have ran them up into the nose and just set the brakes, but wanted to be able to tie them all down and the tie down track stops at the V.

i have a 20 ft box 4-5 -5 vee nose plus tongue at 28-5 ft . we always load from the front dont know why just do ,maybe cause dont wanna wait for other sleds to get out of the way, want first tracks lol . four 163 cats no problem and still room for tool boxes ,bags ,buddy heater gas cans ,vee nose all the way tows easy and straight.

I have put 4 sleds in a 16ft +5ft v. First drive two sleds from the front on the door side wall then drive the other 2 sleds from the back. There was no walking room and I only did it a few times also had one 121" sled.
