why to teke 700/800 RMK and not Summit Everest?

hi folks

My buddy is looking for a new sled, we are 9 people, 4 700/800 RMK and 4 Summit everest.
(i am the 700 RMK guy :-)

he like both sleds and we are in the situation to tell him what to buy.

what are the arguments to buy the RMK and not summit
and what are to buy summit and not RMK

thx.

I have the New 09 800 Dragon 155 and the sled turns on a dime. I took it out to Towogtee the other weekend (about 24" of snow) and was really impressed. I rode my buddies 08 Summit and it clearly is a totally different riding style. I had a hard time trying to get it to hold in the turns. The RMK beat the Doo in a flat drag race stock for stock. But I assume its a different story in the really deep stuff, because the Doo is lighter. I'm not brand loyal, but for reailabilty sake the RMK's do have EFI and a little better track record then the Doo. My buddies 08 had a lick of problems that left him stranded a few weekends without a sled, but it was all covered under warranty.

Let your friend ride both the Poo and the Doo and let him pick what one best fits his riding style. I came from a dirtbike background and felt right at home on the new Dragon.

It's tough, just depends on his own ideas and mind set. Given the options I would pick Polaris. I have always been treated well, never had a bad sled that would make me think to switch (I have owned both Polaris and Ski-Doo sleds in the past 10 years). I prefer to buy USA when I can and the product is worthy, even more so when it's built in my home state.

Parts availability is generally better when the parts don't have to cross a countries border which would also favor the Polaris. Dealer in the area is a big concern for most people. Other then that it boils down to how each of the sleds fits the individual rider or how they ride etc.

reliability?

Polaris sleds have been breaking cranks since 2001. Now the new 800's need new pistons and heads. That's not reliable. Skidoo is no better. the 07 800s had lots of engine problems. The 08 800s had even more problems. I think if you want to buy a used sled buy what ever you can get a smokin deal on. Then be prepared to spend some money on it. If you are going to buy a new sled I would go to a dealer who has a reputation for excellent service and buy what ever he sells. 10 years ago you could buy a sled and put 4000 miles on it and not fix anything except for maybe 1 belt. Anyways, your friend will be happy with the summit or the rmk. Both work well.

I'm sorry, but reliable, and snowmobile don't belong in the same sentence. (excluding 4 strokes) If you want something that will never have a problem, go buy a lawnmower or something. Regaurdless of what people say, I've seen Polaris motors go last year, Cat motor's go, and Doo motor's go. It's how you maintain them, and how you ride them. Get what ever one feels good to you, and what ever one you can get some good dealer support for.

Everybody on here is going to say they have the best brand. Don't beleive any of them. All the new sleds are good, but they all have problems too. If you don't have any dealer support, just pick a color you like best, and enjoy it.

actually we are now thinking between 700 RMK 155" and everest 800 154"

I like the poo handling but doo looks better. And the performance is nearly same.

I'm looking for our first sleds. I have some dirtbike experience and lots of time in the deep stuff on skiis. My buddy suggests an RMK 700 and something close for my wife. (So she can pull me out.) He rides an RMK 800 and says I'll get stuck more on the 800. Any comments from you guys?

Looks? Boy that leaves the door wide open for interpetation! Ski-Doo could learn a bit from Polaris in the look category all across their product line. From ATV's to Sleds.:face-icon-small-win

Why no cats in this discussion? Good dependable sleds, lighter than Polaris built stronger than doo and out of the 2 stroke sleds the least amount of motor problems. I think you need to add one to your riding group.
