Why is my clutch doing this??

12 pro, the primary spring is eating into the spider. Wearing on the spring as well. Broke first spring I'm guessing somewhere around 500 miles. Figured it was the aftermarket spring. Back to stock spring, pry gonna carry a spare. Any ideas what's causing this?? Might be sending them up to Indy Dan when I get home next week

Indy Dan did mine and put a delrin washer there. You can easily do it yourself but if you want it balanced and the faces machined you should send it to him.

Check into the SLP springs instead of poos, as I recall, flatter transition at the tail.

just like a valve spring in a race motor I always deburr and smooth the ends of the spring with a scotchbrite wheel, you want everything nice and smooth to the touch on both ends, it takes very little to get it perfect

Break a couple, it will bed in there nicely and then they seem to stop breaking.... In all seriousness though I think I broke 3 or 4 the first 1500miles and haven't had a problem since.
But recently I cleaned all the burrs off the spider jam but, cleaned up the faces the spring sits on (spider and cover)
I rotated it a few times with pressure and cleaned up the places where it would bind. (spider and cover)
I rounded the tips of the springs again to prevent any binding.
I just got a Derlin washer from Indy Dan as well for good measure, problem seems gone.

Glide washers... Every sled I have owned did this to some extent. 2XM3 probably has it right though if you deburr the spring nicely you can likely fix it.

I bought glide washer set with a couple Teflon coated washers and a bunch of uncoated spacer washers 5-6 years ago. Used the Teflon ones back then and every sled since I have slapped one of the uncoated "spacer" washers between the spring and the clutch cover when installing the appropriate primary weights and one on the helix side, all better.

My clutch on my 12 is wearing at the same exact spot. Even broke a spring at 45 miles. Polaris dealer covered it. Now Im having issues with gettting RPM at the top end. 8100 max on flat groomed trail. 8-9000ft 10-60's, black and green primary and black secondary. I even got lower with 10-62's, took it to the dealer they soaked me 80 bucks for nothing, cant find anything wrong with the sled. although the computer said that I have overheated 51 times with 31 shut downs, total miles on sled 500..

Isn't your secondary spring supposed to be a black/purple at that altitude to slow your secondary upshift down, is that a heavier primary spring that your dealer installed?

The dealer put the Black and green in when I broke my stock black. I inspected my secondary and its a black spring also. I asked abou the black purple, they said some people do that and some don't it more a personal preference.

One a lighter note I found out what was making me lose RPM, the jam nut on the spider came loose and backed it self out little so it would only let my primary close so far. I got it tightened up and all my RPM came back.
