I need a wakeboard and know nothing about wakeboards. I'm 5'11" and 205lbs. I'm looking for more stability than I am "pop" or ability to launchg off of the big wakes right now. I'll buy another board down the road when I get to that point. I do have snowboard experience and decent balance, so I don't want the Skidoo Freestyle of wakeboards (slow and low performance) Info about bindings and length or price ranges to look for would be great.

www.wakeworld.com is also an excellent resource. Alot of really helpful people on there. They also have a really good gear review section. I upgraded to an obrien cartel board with Ion bindings last year. Unbelievable difference in pop.

The Liquid force Ben Greenwood board is about the best out there. We take 3 to 4 boards every saturday and me and all my friends always ride the Greenwood board of the other one. The other boards aren't cheap ones either, just as expensive and new, if not more. We all notice an increase of amplitude on our pops and still are able to carry out the distance needed to make a smooth and landing. Oh yeah and about the smooth landing, the best landing board you will ever ride, super sturdy and firm/comfortable landing. You very rarely get the squably board affect on your landing. That is its best feature, it is so so so firm on the water, in that i mean you never get the squirly feeling, and that is super nice for learning. But it is still probably the most aggresive jumping board out there, and probably the most road board by the Pros. I give it 2 bigs thumbs up, and if you go to Marine Products or something, everyone of the salesman will recomend it to you as well. BTW don't buy a Ronix, they are a new company and you can tell it in their boards, super sick looking designs and prostaff but the quality is not quite there.. Made the mistake laying out big bucks for one last summer, and hardly ever taking it of the tower due to my friends Liquid force Ben Greenwood, Best ALL Around Board on the market

Another vote for Liquid Force. Rode one yesterday and was totally impressed. Never thought a board could make a big difference, but this board would track amazingly well, even if you accidently kicked the skegs out on a big bank turn. When spinning to ride reverse, the board was not squirly. Could pop off the wake with total confidence. I give it :beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

I'm no expert, but I bought a Liquid Force Omega a couple years ago. Looks like they're still the same w/ bng's (and cheaper too:mad:). Anyway, I've ridden several of my friends boards, Hyperlite Parks (hyperexpensive!), and others and the Omega seems to be a great all around board. Tracks real well in the rough water, fast, good pop. Couple of my buds with newer fancy boards ride mine as much as theirs.
Get the Omega. Probably find last year's model for less than $300. Oh, and the bindings (Alpha on mine) are super comfortable and are holding up real well.

Stick with Hyperlite imo. I wouldn't go as aggressive as the Byerly, but maybe a Premier would suit you just fine. I had a 03 model Premier 140 for about 4 years and absolutely loved it, but bought a Byerly last summer and will never look back. But it's all an opinion. Many good board shops will let you demo a board for a small fee and then if you decide to buy it, they will take that off the price. Go and ride a few and see what you like. Peace out.
