Just tossed a 3" pitch track on my xp with a set of iceage rails and i was just wondering if i should be running an anti stab wheel kit or will i be ok? there isnt much diff between the 2 tracks obviously, stock being 2.86 vs 3 on the camo-x, i just have hurd people in the past running them?

let me know what you would do,
-Jesse

With the cost of your new track and rails the anti-stab is cheep. Most of us run them.

I have never ran them, If your track is loose enough to stab a rail you got bigger problems to deal with. A track that loose is very inefficient and the lugs are folding over on you anyways and you are loosing any advantage gained by the taller paddle.

It is also certain suspensions are prone to stabbing tracks, not just loose tracks...

So to be helpful, which suspensions are prone to stabbing? I for one would like that information.

They all can stab. Form loading on a trailer to hitting a rock/stump to stabbing the throttle. It is called timing. Track tension won’t stop it. When you go to a 3” pitch track you up your odds on any and all skids. Bigger windows = bigger targets.

Yes

My friend put a 3.0 pitch track on his revy and he made it 18 miles in and a small stump not visible made it stab throu and let me tell u it's a pain in the A.. To get the rail out of the track it also cracked the end of the rails making them not useable so after he spent way over 1000$ for every thing it is totaly worth the last 100 to keep it from happening .don't want to burn 100 dollar bills do u specially causes the skidoos tail walk a lot more then others just my 2cents hate ruining a good day of riding it makes me depressed and makes me want to drink...... So yes run it

explain to me what the disadvantages are of too loose of track (if it doesnt ratchet)????
a $70.00 anti stab setup VS track is cheap. one less thing to ruin your ride .

My 10-11 m8's look way more prone to a stab. they have alot shorter rails than the poo's, so the track is "waving" more since its further away from the drivers.

ordered an slp kit, there all about the same 120 price for the doos. im with you guys on the whole not wanting to ruin my day thing lol.

thanks for the info!

i run them on my m just to be safe, but the three other m's in my group don't and so far know ones had issues yet.

as to the anti-stab kits that cost $100+ they are a waste of money. u can go to hi performance engineering, i think hiperf.com, and get an axle and wheel kit for like $45-50. same thing just not called "anti-stab kit" for a lot less money. that's what i'very been running for 6 years now.

not cool... my anti stab kit has to go is to close to the cross shaft that my limiter strap is on, that it wont work. the wheels wouldnt be able to go on they hit the shaft. is it ok if i remove that shaft and use the anti stab kits axle as the mount for the limiter strap? it will be moving it about 1.5" forward on the rail.

Not having anti-stab kit on my M1000 (3.0 pitch Powerclaw track) cost me about $800 in damage, 2 lost days of a great riding trip and a serious headache to extract my fully locked up sled from the mountains. Never again.

Think it has alot to do with how close your rails are to your drivers. If your not running extrovert drivers and your rail is very close to the driver like it is on the Pro then probably not needed. But it you are running extros and you had to cut the rail then I would say yes run them. I did a 3 pitch back in the day on my Edge chassis and didn't run anti stabs becuase they worn't around yet. But I'm runnin a 3 pitch on my Pro with extros and I have an anti stab kit on it. Just cheap insurance realy.

We have four m sleds and they all have them.Didn`t run them before we got the m sleds with 3" pitch, but why chance it,too many storys of stabs and potential carnage that can occur.....

Contact Ice Age and ask them. I would assume using the wheel shaft would put your straps too close to the drivers. I would consider drilling a hole back for the straps. See what Ice Age says.
