Who's in for one more at Bear Paw on the 12th?

We will be up there around 8 'ish. Sun, fun, snow and water. Love July in the great NW!!!

so how long of a no snow season do you guys get ??? 4 months???? lucky buggers

Normally 4 or 5 months (depending on how die hard you are). This year, I am going for 2 months. May be over optimistic but you have to have goals.

drove to the end of the road and unloaded. No way for next weekend., fs well shut it down. About a dozen sleds up on saturday, some knucklehead on a rev went past church mt down the waterfall shoot. sled is upside down in the creek with water pouring over it. The guy riding it is luck he only got hurt.

I don't see how he is going to get it out. There is less then 2 feet of snow at the end of the road so it is not legal to ride and the snow is melting very fast. To get it out by hand is going to take 10 good strong smart people to get it out. The sled is in a hole opened up by the water fall. If you hike down to it in the shoot and start sliding you will go into the same hole and most likely get sucked under the snow by the water. very dangerous spot, every one better be roped off . Not for the weak and timid. And yes in this case I am going to admit I am week and timid:eek:

The two riders left it there if they would have stayed we would have helped to get it out. There were 10 guys there ready to help.

Priority 1 was getting the rider to the hospital. I did that. I decided that no one should be down there to help get it out due to the danger involved. We are arranging a chopper for an extraction this week. Give the rider a break 'cause it could of happened to anyone. No need for name calling.

Good point whitefish. It's too bad people have to make the situation worse with their comments on here. This forum is great for information but is ruined with bs like this. You guys had to make the decision. You made the safest one without putting anyone else at risk digging it out. I am sorry we couldn't help you guys get it out since we did have enough people but getting your injured partner out was the right thing to do. Sure it was a bad situation, stuff happens. We've all made mistakes while riding no matter what skill level. Too bad you have to get crucified on here for it. Make sure to take a good camera when you ride in the chopper. It should be some pretty amazing shots.

i don't think anyone is crucifying the rider on here. that chute is a pretty well known water runout. had he ever ridden the area before?

No question on the water runout. We are not considered locals and ride that area every other weekend but I would consider us regulars. That creek was and is still safely ridable. I was already at the bottom of it when this happened. We were in there the weekend before. He just made a mistake coming down and could not recover in time.
