we are on the road, left the house about 130pm, we are in joliet Illinois right now. probably drive till midnight tonight. hoping to make it to billings Mt tomorrow night. if all goes well we will be in West Yellowstone friday night. save some freshies for us PELEEEEEASE???? ski

today's update from the road @ 1:41 pm (cst) we are now on I90 headed west. last night i started getting sick :( thought it was a cold, which in itself would suck for the next 10-12 days (not good when you are on vacation).

but with the wife being a nurse practicioner, she felt i may have the flu. which is worse in some ways, and better in some ways. LOL! she happen to have a perscription for tamaflu so, i took a dose last night. this am i woke up and felt alot better. so i think it is the flu. i am achey, and have a headache but, that damn tamaflu WORKS!!!! so, i'll keep taking it till it is out or i feel better.

as long as i dont get any worse (cold instead of flu). i should be good to go by the weekend. LOL! i would rather have a few days of the flu, than 2 weeks of misery with a cold. so with a little luck i hope it is just the flu. LOL!

we made it to the nebraska border area last night at about midnight cst. i slept in due to being sick. we got on the road about 10:00am cst, heading north on 29 in the fog till we arrived in sioux falls sd where it was sunny. we topped off the truck and our stomaches.

after lunch, i put lynne back in the drivers seat so, i can nap alittle through SD. looks like we will run into snow somewhere near the wyoming/sd border. i'll drive till i cant stand it tonight. hoping billings or even bozeman may be possible before we hang it up for the night.

i'll update later tonight or tomorrow. you guys be safe, and have fun, but, save some for us. LOL! ski

Awesome! I am glad to read that you are staying at the Golden West Motel. Kurt and Shel are great people that own the best motel in West Yellowstone. They can tell you where all of the good riding spots are :)

Kurt and Shel also support the sport of snowmobiling.

dooboy's wife here, MADE IT TO WEST YELLOWSTONE!!!! 1 day ahead of schedule. Kurt, and Shell, made room for us for tonight so we didnt have to pack and unpack again.

yesterday was LOOOOOOOOONG!!!!! we started driving around 1000am cst we drove all day and well into the night and this morning. we were trying to drive deep into the storm base to get around the worst of it. the plan paid off. we stopped about 200am mt time at hardin Mt, about 45 miles south of billings.

the roads were dry till just past the sd/wy border where we started to see the first flakes. then the wind and snow kicked in. it would go from clear and dry pavement, to snow covered and near zero visability.

slept from 300am to about 600am when another hotel guests dog decided to bark for about 45 minutes because the owner left the room to clean their auto. NICE!!!! ski went back to sleep till about 8am or so. back on the road by 10am, made it to bozeman about 2pm. 90 was snow covered in the passing lane but for the most part the "slow lane" was dry. dinked around in bozo for awhile, watching the temp drop to
-8f!!!! then made our way to west.

we are all unloaded and resting. we both need to catch up on some sleep, so i doubt we will even ride tomorrow. we have time, the snow isnt going anywhere.

took big sky trail today went up past cabin alittle ways, wow snows amazing, really deep! big sky trail is beat to hell though. but when isnt it i guess right

colder than H E double hockey sticks here for our visit. LOL! sounds like it is going to be close to -20f tonight. not sure yet if we are riding today or not. if you ride, bundle up, watch for frostbite. going to be brutal out there, even the the sun is shining and its a blue bird day, she's gonna be cccccold.. be safe, ski
