hey just curious if many people have drilled holes on the top of their clutch cover, how much did this help if an with heat and belt issues?

i took all that plastic crap off. put a small intake and exit vent. and drilled alot of holes in my cover.

lost a belt before this at about 100km

havent lost one in over 1200

No plastic on my cover... Lots O holes.... Cool belts are cool.. Never lost a belt yet.

I tried the hole trick this season, I did a bunch of small holes so I would get less belt dust all over. I'd say it helps a little, gets some circulation in there but not as much as puttin a vent in the shock tower. The outter airbox sits just above the clutch guard so putting holes in it doesn't do as much unless the box is removed.
With that said though I am running the outter box which side vents and ported clutch guard and the clutches seem to run fairly cool.
I would go shock tower vent if you have no other vents.

bad idea, when them belts go, they can go really good and bust many many things, do you really want your belt coming threw the hood for some extra holes, i think not

I put 4 louvers in the front part of the cover to lift my aribox and get some air flow from the vent in the back of the shock tower and put many 1" holes in the top and back of the clutch cover. Works great--Have not lost a belt since.

Of course I did the clutching too.

H20SKE...

Blew my first belt (996 miles) and didn't Doo any damage with a holey belt guard.

i blew one up and no holes in guard, completely mangled the clutch guard, broke the mounts off, was a good explosion down there

this topic alot of people would be 50/50 at it, ones that drill holes, and ones that want more added to it

holes

holes work really well . you got to pull the tool holder off , put the tools in your pack .install vents , but if your eating belts from over temp clutches then you got another prob ,your clutches are out of align. qrs shim kit from dootalk will fix it. nite and day temp diff . running the same belt from beginnig of season ,not even a thread. check it out on dootalk. the holes alone are not the fix. good luck
