who straps their helmet??

Sweet, here we go all over again!!!!!

I strap the helmet on always. There was an instance this winter in which I had wished it wasn't because I inhaled so much exhaust I was .01 seconds away from puking but I was able to keep it down long enough to get the helmet off. Can't understand why people leave it unstrapped.

I learned a long time ago, when I was strapped into the short bus to strap the helmet. Enuff said

I know this thread has gone the rounds before. I will mention something I have not discussed on Snowest previously, but for the sake of wanting people to be safe I'll mention it now. As many of you who have been around for awhile know, I was one of those with Animal (Dave) when he lost his life tragically from an avalanche. He was thrown into some thick trees, or rode in that direction to try to find safety. When we found him beneath about 3-4 feet of snow his helmet was not on him. His helmet had not been strapped!

For what it's worth............ (please no negative comments, as this is still a very difficult and sensitive subject for many of us!)

I do....but I can't believe how many people don't.

I've proved to myself MANY times that I'm not lucky enough to get away with $hit like that!!

if you get that little quick strap that attaches so that it works like a seatbelt it isn't such a nuiscance to strap on all the time. i'm such a hypocrite though because i only strap it up about half the time.

....same situation with Rev X last year. The guys found his helmet, and spent a good 2 minutes digging around that area, and he was 20 yards firther down the hill.......Will never know if it was stapped if he would still be with us. Always stap it up.

IF folks find it hard to thread through the buckles take 5 minutes and practice!

Always strap it on, just like a seat belt it doesn't work if you don't use it!

I always strap mine but I have a buddy that Im constantly reminding. Now he has the strap so loose its the same as it not being strapped at all.

Sometimes it is tempting to just slap on the helmet and ride. Those D rings are a major pain when your fingers are cold or the straps are frozen solid.

Or get a quick release clip, and be done with it.

Wow, The level of ignorance really makes one wonder. The helmet debate for road riding is one thing. riding off road without a helmet or with one that is not strapped is the stupidest thing you could do. I hope you dont pass that on to your kids.. if you have any.
