I just took my Simmons skis off of my mountain cat and put them on my M8 and I'm not sure about the fit. They don't sit flat even when the skis are strait with no pressure on them. The outside carbide sits about an 1/8 inch off the ground. Is this normal ? If so, how do you like them on the M-series? I loved them on my mointain cat.

Thanks,
Boone

I run them on mine and really like them. The only thing I don't like is they are a lot harder to turn (I mean physically turn the handlebars) than the stock skis. I cut the back of the skags off and that helped a lot but still harder to turn, but overall really like them.

that's the only ski we'll use, too...

None other like it...

On the trailer, the outside is barely off the wood... I think the geometry helps load the inside edge of the ski to help with turning...

They turn really good on the road when your going about 90 but just making a nice little trun they are a BEACH. Just what i felt from riding a M1000 this weekend that had them.

I tried them for a couple weeks. Hated them, put my stock skis back on.
They work great on the trail but in the tight trees they sucked!!!!!

I have simmons skis on my 2009 M8 cat and they my sled seems a lot harder to turn than 07, 08 models with same skis. Any one know what might be the cause, did they change anything on 09's?

I got them on both the M sleds my buddy tried the slydogs I'll stick with the simmons.
I put the stock M skis on a 02 570 mtn cat I have for a spare and lending out. it makes that sled much better.

I spend most of my time on 1 ski when I'm riding, I love sidehilling. When I tried the simmons (that I loved on my older sleds) I hated them on the M, harder to pull over. If you ride trails (why?) they're great, if you climb straight up things they're great, but for sidehilling & tight trees I hated them.

Have them on my 07 M1000 and I love them handles the trail so much better... as we all have to ride the trail to get to where we can play. No issues with side hilling or anything like that.

After trying to make my Simmons work (cause I love them in a straight line) on 5 different M sleds, I finally put them away for good (at least 'till they change the front end geometry). Too inconsistant in corners and fall away on bumpy side hills.

I believe the camber change, as the a-arms go up and down, is too much. Kind of old in design.

Best ski I have used to date on the M sled is my deep keel (with a lot of other subtle changes , saddle location ,etc.) HCR ski. Set-up the suspention and it's a easy steering and consistant biting ski.

Just took the simmons off my 09 M1000. To nose heavy and hard to turn. I replaced them with SLP powder pros and like them so far, but there is no good snow here to test them out. The SLP seems way more tippy and aggressive which IMO = easier sidehilling. They do seem to dart a bit more then the simmons on the hard trail but with a hand full of throttle they are not on the ground to often:eek:

Its been a compromise for me.
I loved them on the firecat even though they didn't corner as well on the harpack... Don't care much for harpack riding anyway.
On my 08 m1000 I love the way they float and track.
Steering is kind of heavy and harder to throw on its side.
All of last year I rode sled bone stock with aftermarket skis only with stance in widest position.
This year I narrowed stance to nuetral stance and have been very happy with the amount of effort it takes to throw it on its side.
I dropped front of rear suspension to lower hole and steering effort is better along with transfer, but in the pow it trenches more this way.
Still love the skis.

Glad to hear it's not just my skis setting a little cockeyed. My sled (07 1000) seems to be a little darty on the trail. I figured it was because of the way the skis set. I hate trail riding anyway so no big deal. Overall I think they are a pretty good ski but agree with the other people that they make turning a bit harder. Dont think I would spend the money on another set. The stock ones look pretty nice.

6" (same as original Simmons anyway) I think.
I don't really expect floatation , to a point, from the skis anyway. I do that with the skid set-up. I do expect consistant steering control.
