Found this scary map of the US showing Federally controlled land in RED.

Here's the story about how Utah is starting to fight back.
Hopefully this will start a trend or we will be extinct in another 25 years, snowmobilers that is.

Be careful what you wish for. As a citizen you have the right to be on BLM, Forest Service and other public lands. Now if you think that turning this land over to private parties is a good idea, then you need to think about that long and hard. If you think a private party is going let you run your sled across the middle of his land, or even your mountain bike for that matter, you have another thing coming.

Possibly the worst thing that could happen is that some of these lands fall into the hands of developers, then you can kiss your access to these land good by.

Now if the states are really going to take over these lands and keep them for themselves and in turn us, then I'm all for it. However, I live in California and the state is broke along with a lot of other states, what better way to make some cash then to sell off some land. I'm not saying it would happen, but that it could. I mean it kind of boils down to who do you trust more your state or the federal government? Man, that is a pick 'em where I live. I don't trust either of them.
