I got a rather interesting card in the mail today ... .... At first, I noticed that there were no names on it I recognized. No Klim yellow, no Polaris red or Cat orange .... no Motorfist, in other words, nothing that I would have expected. It looked to me in fact like it was something somebody deliberately Photoshopped all the brand names off a professional catalog photo or something.
I was sort of curious, so I flipped it over:
"www.snowmobilesurvey.com" eh?
As to be expected, the domain is registered with a squatting house, so no dice there ...
What about that neat little "rainforest" logo? Could be harmless enough, I mean a lot of paper has that little recycle logo on it .... Never seen this rainforest approved logo, but hey, lets check the link?
https://us.fsc.org/who-we-are.176.htm
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm .... Now its getting interesting, isn't it?
Lets look a little more at that site ...
http://memberportal.fsc.org/
Oh golly gee willikers, look who are "members" .... The wilderness society, wilderness association coalition association of associative coalitions with friends specifically of the batfish bird yak, etc and that list goes on and on.
So apparently this place, at least the US division is headquartered in Minnesota ....
Lets see what the rainforest graphic means:
http://www.rainforest-alliance.org/certification-verification
Well ... more of the same.
So, I goggled a bit and as to be expected, can't find anything that directly links the "FSC" site to anti-snowmobiling .... maybe I am just not that good of a google sleuth?
So here is where I'm at: Before sounding the paranoid delusion alarm bells, does anyone have any information on whether or not this is in fact a legitimate pro-snowmobiling-related entity conducting this survey, or is my suspicion correct, and its a bunch of *** **** envirotards playing games?
Admission: At this point, I have not plugged my pin number in to take the survey yet, I wanted to generate some responses first and see if anyone else got one of these ..... At some point, I will take the survey.
So lets see if we can figure out who is putting this one on, eh?
