Who makes the best tether??

I'm installing tethers on several different sleds this season and I'm having issues with the basic tether switch we all remember. I would like opinions on what is the best tether switch available for snowmobiles these days. I've searched several threads and have heard of the pro armour and the pingle, any others out there? I need to know my tether will work flawlessly, it's not an item I am willing to compromise on. So tell me guys, who's the best??

I vote for Pingle I have 3 different sleds using this and they have never failed
Nice simple design and you can buy replacement clips at any hardware store. If you happen to lose one.

I have the pro armor on both of my sleds and they have worked great, they are the only tether I have ever used other that the stock cat tether, so I can't say what is better.

Well thats quite an avatar you have there, made me laugh. Thanks for the opinions guys, anyone else.

Cat

The simplest and best tether is from Cat!

I have seen too many Pingles freeze up, sled is upside down or on a run-away with the driver standing there with the tether in their hand. I wouldn't use a Pingle.

The Pro Armor is too bulky and doesn't mount friendly onto the bars. With the current mounting direction it is a difficult pull if you go off the sled to the side. Works good if you go off the back, ..I have seen the tether cord tear away from the drivers clothing when ejected to the side.

The Cat tether pulls off well from any angle, and they are the most economical!

My $0.02 cents worth, ..haha

I've been told cats are a "closed circuit" and polaris (what I need them for) are an "open circuit" can you get open circuit cat tethers? I've read on here of some people having trouble with the pro armours not working well in the cold, they freeze up?, and I've wondered about the angle you pull the cord at also. Does the pingel plunger rotate? or would the angle the cord is pulled possibly be a problem on it also?

Polaris they work just fine in all weather/snow etc. 5min install no fockin around with connectors etc etc.

Anyone have a part # for the polaris tether? or a model they came on? Thanks

Pro Armor on 2 sleds (find a white brother's tether usually cheaper but same switch) and an artic cat on a 3rd sled. I like the Pro Armor better and finding space for it on the handlebar isn't an issue. Never had an issue with it not working or freezing on me. Only time it failed is when buddy wrapped the excess tether cord around the handlebar which prevented it from pulling out when he got thrown off the sled....dumb.

The arctic cat switch is ok. I don't like having to fiddle and press it on since most plastic areas it is mounted on are very thin and flex a lot when reinstalling the tether....expect the plastic tank cover to crack any day now. If you have a nice thick panel to mount it one, then go for it.

Stay away from Gunnar. Total junk.

I have ran Pingel on both turbos for years. Very simple design. Sometimes hard to get clip back on with heavy gloves though.

polaris tethers r junk.. dont waste your money. mine never made it a trip b4 the stupid thing mushroomed over and didnt work. 2 other friends have had the same luck.

either do a pro armor tether or a seadoo watercraft tether. never had a problem with either.

pro armor is on my pro and the seadoo watercraft tether on my old xc.

I'm going to mount a Ski-doo tether on my Polaris. As they are operated by magnet switch and will not freeze up like all others.
