Who made this?

I want one! Does it make the stock ski float like a Simmons without sacrificing the grip?

east or west?

gotta be someone on the east! look at the wet slushy conditions...he needed a little extra floatation for the once a year dump of snow then the rest of the year he rides slush and muck. sign me up when we find the maker!

It's not me...

But I had the same idea ! I want to do that... Out of 5/16" or 3/8" thick UHMW plastic (same plastic as the ski) not steel like the one on the photo. After I heard about the simmons washing out on really hard surface, thought it would be great to add some "wings" for floatation on the stock ski.

Due to the fact that it's a powder snow device, I had the idea of using the nose shape of my powder specific snowboard. At its largest point, the adapter has 13.5" wide and tapers down to the end. That, is for more floatation in the FRONT of the ski so that the front of the ski has a tendency of "floating more" than the rear, what theorically gets it out of the snow better... Now that's true for snowboarding in deep stuff, can't tell for sure if it'll work right for a Hawk ski. What you see in attached file is the one I drew a few weeks ago, it bolts on the 4 bolts of the STD Hawk ski, goes around it, then goes underneath the front end of the ski then screws on with one more bolt. (may add 2 more on the sides... And it finishes 2.5" further & higher than the stock ski. The rear part screws on between one of the 2 ribs at the back of the ski.

Of course there's an array of shapes we could try for different application... We would probably have to make the sides straight if we want to add some snowtrackers on it... But I'm questionning that since it's in the powder and what we want is flotation, gripping for harder condition stays there below with the proven stock ski snow tracker.

I had this idea and wanted to test it this winter. If some guys here want to give it a try, I may have a few built... Custom shapes is not a problem ! Can't tell any price right now, I've been busy designing graphic kits for 2 Hawkers here on the forum the last week or so... Then putting together my new Hawk flick ... Then changing my damn china bearings... Too many things to do !!!

I might make one out of an old snowboard. I have a Burton Phish that is tapered and would work well for this application.

I saw that Ski at HawkFest 08 up at Mt Baker, I think it was Harley's.
Tony S. Would know for sure......can't say how it worked as I didn't follow it.
Hope this helps
