Who left the sled in Lilly Lake??

EDIT: Lilly lake, by Lost Lake and Trial Lake

Didn't take a picture but as Tink and I passed the lake today I saw a sled in the lake. Road out to take a look and a Doo is out there frozen into the ice.

Looks like it got stuck on Saturday when the ice was slushy.. track was well frozen into the ice today.

Looks like a heck of a recovery job, going to have to tie it off to a tree or something on shore and then chip the track free so you can pull it up onto the surface and drag it to solid ground (solid snow??)...

Either that or tie a buoy to it and go find it after the lake melts...

Wow, that sounds like a bad situation to be in.
You should have told us you were up there. We took the kids out today. I had major ARM PUMP riding one handed and got stuck a couple times.:face-icon-small-dis

You did mean Lily and not Lilly right???

Opps.. Lilly, across from Lost Lake not far from Trial lake.. (I'll go try and correct the first post and title)

But we were over there anyway.

Tink wanted a road ride, about all her hip will allow right now, so we rode from Soapstone over to the Bear River Service for a cup of coffee with our sandwich.

If we knew where the cabin was we might have dropped by for a few.

Yeah, we could have met you at Bear River and escorted you to our cabin. Then you would know. I would say let us know in the future but not sure how realistic it will be for us to get to the cabin for a few weeks.

Another time; this wasn't a clearly planned trip. Started out for Mirror Lake and when we got there Tink wanted to keep going; so we ended up at the Bear River Service. Haven't been there in a few years and had no idea it had changed so much. We thought we'd find a warm fire and a hot lunch to go with the coffee.

Next year we'll have to plan a ride together. Tink's hip and courage should be back in order by then. Last season she had a very bad accident and had been regaining her riding skills up to the time her hip got hurt.

Maybe if you and GP are still on the mend we'll be able to keep up with you.

It was a rental sled from Loft Peaks Adventure. Most of the tours that they do are guided and not in that area but some friends of the the owner wanted to go unguided up there. They told him that they were "really good snowmobilers" and would be fine.

My brother is their mechanic and got to go up this morining and recover it. He said that the water that it was stuck in was actually just melted water or run off and the ice was still frozen about 2 feet down. Long story short with 5 guys they were able to get it out in about an hour. Everyone was pretty wet I guess but it could have been worse. He said the hardest part was lifting the back of the sled up to get a tow buddy under it because it was frozen solid and was everything that 4 guys could do to lift it. I talked to him at about 3:00 and he said even sitting in the shop since about 10:00 it was still a huge ice cube.

My group rode by the group of morons as they were trying to figure out what to do. Wasn't it a 2 seater trail sled? what the hell were they thinking riding that on that lake or even off the trail??

and you didn't stop to offer and hand or advice? :face-icon-small-dis

lots of people have no clue what they are doing, but stopping to help and teach can make all the difference... also karma is a b!tch

But really, how is the snow around Trial Lake, I want to go ride up behind Watson!! :face-icon-small-hap

Not the best; not the worst.

Going to have to watch for rocks and stumps more then normal but the snow is setting up a little so we can crawl up over the ridges and get into the Anchor lake area.

I haven't been far off the road because I've only been riding with the wife.

Agreed. My dad and I stopped to help this guy from Canada get unstuck last weekend. He was riding with Beaver Creek Lodge and had never been before, and his group was no where to be seen. The first thing he said to us was "How the heck do you get one of these out of the hole?" If we hadn't been there, who knows what could have happened. I just hope someone will return the favor if I'm stuck and seperated from my group sometime.
