I'm gonna buy one or the other. How comfortable are the extreme bibs? Do the free ride pants stay up when actively riding? Do the velcro side straps hold up? Give me some pros and cons of what these two pants have to offer. Are they warm on cold days? I'm looking for something lighter than my cabelas bibs. They keep me dry but the things are so friggin heavy. Any opinions welcome.

I love my free ride pants. Never had a problem with the staying up or snow coming in over the top of them. As a plus, they are quicker to get off when all the beer and whiskey you drank last night hits your lower abdomen.

I had free ride pants and didnt like em much....switched to the bibs with the low cut....cant remember the name....not the high up on your chest style. Love em...straps over the shoulder still which I like and I wear a tech vest which is way to HOT with the high style bib.

I ride with the extreme pants (the one with the suspenders).
Love em. THey work awsome. you get the movement of the pants with the support of the bibs.

I have the free rides with some suspenders that I put on. They keep the snow and wet out. The side velcro strap are useless. Without the suspenders I could'nt keep them on.

Edit: Worn these for years. Top quality pants. On really warm days I do feel a bit sweaty in them.

I picked up some freeride pants this year, love 'em, worn them in -45C (windchill) and no issues with being cold as long as you're riding actively. I've had plenty of dismounts/bails/etc. and never had a problem with the pants falling down so IMO the velcro side straps work.

i have the low bibs, really like them, but after 1 1/2 seasons, i now have to wear gaiters over them or they ride up and get soakin wet. last season i rode about 43 days, this year about 35

If you have a problem with extra weight around the waist you will like the bibs better. (Not meant to offend anyone, just keeping it real)

The guys at Klim understand that it's not your outer layer that keeps you warm, it's what you wear underneath. Their outer layers are built to keep the water and wind out and stand up to abuse from wear and tear, but are not build to keep you warm. If you want to be warm follow the layering system in the catolog. I'm not saying you have to buy all the base layers from Klim, but they have done the research and know what kind of materials work best from the skin out.

Most goretex type pants keep the wet out...but what are the best that will wick sweat away. That's what I'm more interested in. I have some generic AC goretex now and the only time they get wet are from the inside from sweat.

Do the klim pants wick the sweat out, and keep the inside dry? If so I have to get a set.

I love my Freerides! I wore bibs for years, but I like the pants much better. They breathe well, meaning they wick away moisture and keep it out! I don't like the velcro straps! Click straps would be better. I had to put safety pins through mine, as I generally lose some weight around my waist as the season goes on, so I'm at the end of the velcro.

I like my Freerides just wished the side zippers on the legs came up a little higher (like on the bibs) so you could put your boots on before you put the pants on. Other than that they rock !!
