who is running xp intake deflector

Who out ther is running a deflector on their stock intake set up? Do they work flawless? My XP doesn't go in snow deeper than the belly pan without bogging. Steam gets the screen wet, snow hits it and I'm screewed. Is the 09 diaper working? can I cut my screen out and slide the 09 filter in? I seen RPM comp has a deflector for $84us seems expensive for 8" of moulded plastic.

This is my second season with The Carbon Fiber Deflector/Guard. It does help quite a bit, but not a 100% effective. This fall I did this mod to my XP. (link below) Last weekend I found some fairly deep stuff and my sled would not bog down. A few other XPs in my group were having some bog down without this mod.

They are actual carbon fiber, not plastic.

I haven't heard yet if the "new diaper" (foam covered with screen) that the 09's have will work better or not. BUT I do know you can mount them on the 08's. My 08 had a torn screen so I got the new set up, just have to cut out the old screen, put the diaper screen around the foam and insert. Should work (?) as some folks were using a foam piece last year and it seemed to help. Waiting for powder to find out.

Cheap Fix

Put on a SLP filter screen losely over exterior of factory 08, when you hit the pin the lose fitting slp filter screen flexes in, with air flow or when you let off the pipe the screen moves out and voila no snow...
Also put 3/4" wide by 3/8" high weather stripping on top edge down to the front above the screen to seal it from under hood temp, not one issue last year, would not run before...
Only cosy $20 for the one foot square filter screen and foam tape
