Who in Montana can fix my OVS TM1000?

I am done trouble shooting and trying to figure out what the problem is. Great sled but it has issues and I just can't figure it out. I was going to take it to OVS boys for them to work out but 24 hour round trip x2 is just not in the cards. No time and cost prohibitive( unless I have to).. I'm willing to drop it off anywhere in Montana and of course will pay for your services. BUT, I need someone that knows turbos and get the job done once and for all. I am sure it is something relatively simple, but I just don't have the know how nor the time.

Pm me or call 406 450-3326 if you can help me out.

Your my last( well second to last) chance snowest. !

Thanks.

Is this a garrett or an aero?Whats the problem?Race gas,,,2 injector?Does it still have the firecat wiring harness?

Its kind of a long read, so I'll just link you to the issues. It is a race gas OVS setup, garrett 3071, extra injectors, and yes, I still believe it is the same harness from the firecat that you did, unless Brock changed it.

Last season, first this...

After I fixed that problem, which was a faulty fuel pressure regulator, it started doing this....

http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=266551

Rebuilt the top end over the summer, And now, it is still not fixed, still over boosting and cutting out. I have checked everything I can, I took the boost controller out and it is doing the same thing. Starts fine, up to 1/2 throttle, but then falls flat on its face.

Then after it does that, it runs real crappy on bottom end and stalls. If I leave it for a bit, starts up fine, idles fine, again, up to 1/2 throttle, and repeats. I'm lost. I'm going to pull Power valves and look at pistons, hoping from overboosting it didn't break another piston.

Running 12# with 110 Sunoco, fresh fuel.

When you say you removed the boost controller ,,did you connect the line directly to the wastgate? If so it should only boost to what ever the wastgate spring is set for i belive Garr sends them out with 10# springs, if it goes over that, then the problem is in the waste gate actuator, that boost controll line is where I like to tee in the PL control boost refrence line, you could also run your boost guage in that line to diagnois the run away boost also?

When was the last time you pulled and checked you REEDS?Also seems strange you dont see your blue come on, start the sled and while its ideling put pressure on the boost refrence line to the control and see if the blue comes on,, if so then check your hoses, the little blue hose has been known to ruptere! The new controlers have a black hose of more durable material,And whats your base fuel pressure, do you see the pressure rise as boost increses?I cant see your first link to last years posts.

Yes, when I removed the boost controller I joined the lines. Hard actually told me 12# was the lowest it would go.

The PL BOX seems to be working now, forgot that was in the old post. What it did do today however, and it started running crappy at idle, when I gave it thottle the blue light did come on. And it was producing no boost. Was running like it was on one cylinder.

I would try to get ahold of Justin At Code Red Performance

I believe he's in Belgrade, MT. it's a ways from Cut bank or try the guys in Helena across from the Airport. north of walmart. I forgot there name it's an automobile shop but they are great with arctic cat sleds, a little pricey though

U can take it to hm turbo shane hart is really good when it comes to turbos. there will be a bunch of us up there this weekend for turbo days ill be there with my cat.i dont know how close u are to lolo mt just an idea.

reading the threads again it gets a little confusing, could you give the run down again of what its doing now (how it runs, how its boosting, what the pl box is reading, pl box settings, fuel pressure and rise of f/p, what do the tuning gauges read, etc...), never know something might pop up in the conversation.
It may not even be the turbo. Could you post some pics to show routing of the control lines.

Do you have a/f or egts and what are they doing.
Have you checked your baro tube

Just an update, several people have resonded to me either by calling or PMing me to try and help me out! I have a couple of simple things to check but if those don't work, I have at least 3 different options to take it somewhere in Montana and I am confident they will fix it.

Lots of smart people on here, and in Montana. Thanks Snowest, fellow Montanians, and most importantly, SLEDDERS!!:tea: for helping a guy out.

Up dates to come.

i had a problem like that on my tm8 last year and it was the tail light shorting out and blowing a fuze that ran my stock injectors unpluged the taillight and haven't had that problem since have you checked the fuel pressure when it's doing this myn was alway low when it would die when ever i touched the throttle like you where saying if anything I'm headed to utah on dec 15 be by ogden if you need me to get any parts for you or take your sled down let me know but I would take it to helena to don cuttingham he helped my buddy tyler out with his ovs kit tyler has had alot of trouble with it and I think don got it running good haven't rode with tyler yet this year but time will tell don know his stuff with the tm1000's

WELL IT APPEARS TO BE FIXED. Finally had time to do something with it and take it to the mountains.

I put some air pressure to the wastegate and it worked fine. Took the boost controller out, and just used a hose connector to connect the hoses, and wala!!!!

NO more over boosting.

I just hope I have no more issues with it. I went on 8 rides last year, and 7 of them something went wrong, 5 different things, one after another. Hope I'm past that.

Thanks all that responded, and it was a lot cheaper than hauling it to Utah.:face-icon-small-hap
