I was just reading the doo 800 thread and got curious about boosted yammys blowing up and how much they cost when they do. I am sitting on a 670 with a 1000 piece piston

Stock,,,extremely rare.

Boosted,,,,still rare but more common,almost always caused by stupidity,or greed and sometimes both.

depends on whether you are smart enough to shut it off some guys think they can ride it out like a 2stroke dont if it starts rattling shut it off will save you 1000$s a full rebuild 5000$ around if it just pistons & rings 2000$ these are just close estimates.

A lot less than a any big bad mod motor.

Crank is 500 us$$. Cases which includes cylinders are 1k I think.
I've never blown one up but just heard from peps who have.
the labour can get pricey but a good 4 stroke tech can whip through one in short order.
If they make noise shut em down........costs lot less in the end.

funny i should not have talk about this bad karma i guess i will let you know in a while my vec seized today the only good thing is it was at idle at the time so i hope the damage is minimal.
