I saw a list of how much money each owner puts back into their team, don't remember where. After seeing that list it's obvious why certain teams are contenders every year and certain teams are for the most part annual losers.
Some owners are hording the money for themselves while other teams, like the Yankees are putting the money back into the team.
Well, if they want to turn it into a 10 or 12 team league, they can keep it up.

I think you're missing the point. It's not the Yankees fault, why shouldn't they be applauded for putting so much money back into the team, it's the other teams where the owner's are keeping the cash for themselves that need to change.
That's like saying Ford sucks because they didn't need a bailout(because they were responsible) but GM and Chrysler are awesome. LOL
Yankees have never won a championship from your socalled buying them.....in the last 9 years no rings and thats when they started to over pay the players. but dont hate them for spending money and putting it back into the teams as shortstop says, they also pay for going over the limit and pay 1/2 the marlins payroll as well.
Baseball died when free agency took over and now everyone leaves the team, or trades the farm system away..
but i do give props to the twins scouting team, always have good young talent, just fault the organization for letting the good players go.

I completely hear what you're saying and understand, but for the overall health of the entire league, they need a hard cap in place. Say what you want about owners not putting money back into the team, small market teams are a complete different situation.
Here in Salt Lake we have the Triple A (bees) team for the Angels. A few years ago the Bees dominated the Minors and started the season off with almost 25 straight wins.
Now that same team is playing for the Angels. Hopefully the Halos can get by the sox and lay a hurtin on the yankees...

I posted something very similar to this on another board yesterday. I'm not a yankee fan AT ALL. But I do respect the Steinbrenners for using their money to put the best product on the field for the fans.
I'm an Oakland Athletics fan so this is kind of a raw subject for me. They're basically a feeder team for every big market team. They develop prospects into solid players (most of the time Bobby Crosby not withstanding) and then refuse to pay them, so they ship them off for more prospects (see: Mark Mulder, Tim Hudson, Danny Haren, and Matt Holliday trades). Which then starts the cycle all over again.

I don't waste my time with baseball. One of the most boring sports IMO. Sorry folks, don't hate on me for my opinion.
Why is snowmobiling better then baseball, football, soccer, and basketball? It only takes one ball to play those sports.
I've always hated the Yankees...used to love the Red Sox til they won the Series. I guess I just like the underdogs which most likely explains why I've been a Mariners fan my whole life...
