Just wondering who all carries a firearm while riding in WY/ more so having one stowed away....

Anyone? And can you point me to info on laws regarding this?

In Iowa we cannot ever carry on a sled/atv.

I would intend on tucking one away in sled storage as opposed to on my person.

Thanks

Nevermind, WY does not recognize my Iowa permit...

Edit: Guess I was wrong. WY does recognize IA permits, as of Feb 2011. Initial site must not have been updated.

Any restricted areas? National parks are supposed to be restricted, what about forests?

Sorry, like to know my laws! :)

As of last year, in the National Parks in Wyoming, you can carry also. Certain buildings in the Parks are are off limits though.

Not sure why you would want to pack while riding though. More weight.

National parks are not restricted, all state laws apply for state you enter from or exit to, National forests are not restricted, its called hunting....................forget all your restrictive eastern laws this is the wild wild west:popcorn:

Just curious.... Why you feel the need to carry at 10k in 15ft of snow?

Anyone can pack a concealed weapon in wyoming. We no longer have to have a permit.

This applies only to Wyoming residents, non residents can CC if they have a permit in their home state, that WY recognizes.

That said- on a few rides we carry for coyotes, ( my buddy got two on the madres this week.) we are still seeing coyotes up on the passes because we have no snow this year

Also most people around here hunt lions off snowmobiles.

Just outta curiosity, what is the point of packing while riding? Just seems to me like its an accident waiting to happen.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against CCW and plan on getting my permit sometime this year, it just seems to me like there is no real reason to pack whilst riding.

Unless its protection from ski hippies? :face-icon-small-con

Last year we killed two coyotes while riding behind deer haven on the south end last year. It was probably January or later last year.

Out of habit... I carry everywhere I can, every time I can.

Just like an avy pack for some I guess. You hope you don't need it, but that one time, your glad as hell ya have it.

Also, to me, the more remote areas with less presence of law enforcement, always remind me to carry.

Also, as far as a survival type of situation, who wouldn't want one?

Have you ever been pulled over and searched on you sled?? I keep mine in my pack, I also keep my Para Ordnance P 12 in my center console. I really don't care if my Iowa CC "applies" in another state. I have never had a police officer ask to see my permit, but then I don't call attention to myself.

I've talked to a couple guys this year that had encounters with wolves in Wyoming last summer/fall, kind of by the area I ride up there. That would be my reason for carrying one. In one situation, a guy was up bow hunting, bugled for Elk once, and had a pack of wolves over him in minutes. I know it's a long shot, but I would feeling better knowing my .357 is in my pack.
