Who all carrys a spare V/Reg?

I picked up a new regulator that has the new part # and have the old one wrapped up in a bag in the the SPG tunnelpack.

Only takes two torx screws and to un-plug it for the switch out...

the new updated one is 140$ , my old one still worked fine but my dealer recommended changing it out , he also said when they go bad it dosent take very long and it takes out the ecm

please explain

The voltage regulator you buy from Polaris (4012930) is boxed with the old part number (4012476) and a sticker with a new part number over the old one. I've installed 4 of them now on 09-10 CFI-4's and ALL of the numbers ink stamped on the new VR (including the part number 4012476 and the other date code numbers, etc.) have been exactly the same as numbers on the the failed VR's. It is still the original 09-10 VR.

Was the voltage regulator ever a problem on the 07 dragons?

Austin

Yup, same as the 08 and 09s. Mine went out taking the ECU. Not cheap. You can do a search and find some of us put a computer fan over the top of the regulator. Those regulators get hot. I have two seasons on it since that happened so I think the fan definitely helped.

Post a pix and parts list please

Pictures of fan. The fan is a 12 volt 3 1/2 inch computer fan with ball bearings. I did remount the capacitor to the outside of the cover so more air would flow across the voltage reg.

is this a problem on 10 rmk 600 too?

My brand new '10 rmk 600 just toasted the VR and Ecu and it only has 2 miles on it! Not to impressed as I thought I was buying a sled that was bullet proof but cant even make it 1 mile from the truck before it took a crap!

VR

Went for a ride on Friday and my friends sled started having a intermittent problem with the gauges flashing on and off, we did ride about 40 miles, He called the dealer Sat and they told him it sounded like the VR and that he was lucky he did not burn out the ecm. Is it possible he could have done some damage ? the sled seem to run just fine, he did loose the low beam side of his lights. this is on a 08 Dragon, bone stock. Will clutch side vents help with this ?

I carry one, and I’ve done the fan mod. When your over 20mi in the back country and something goes wrong, you’d better have options. Yeah, I'm crazy not stupid.

I carry a spare also. My cousin and I both have '10 D8 Assault's. His second VR just died today at 1000 mi. First went at 50 miles. Mine went out mid ride last Feb at 700 miles. While my spare was back in the truck, it was changed and I rode the rest of the trip. Expensive part to have as a "spare", but it saved the trip.
