White smoke

I recentyl picked up a 2005 summit 800. The plugs are always black and now it is blowing white smoke at cold start up and hard to start after a good ride and a lot of white smoke when it dose restart.

Is your coolant level dropping at all? My 05 is a hard starter except when cold. Give it full throttle when you pull. Mine takes 3 pulls every time.

I rejetted mine also #390 mains and #20 pilots. Some guys were going to 380 mains, depending on elevation.

If you are not loosing coolant level, you may be able to count out internal leak. Could be a base gasket leak, or just an o-ring head gasket. The O-ring on the head is a pretty easy place to start.

I have an '05 summit 800, and I sometimes have issues getting it to restart after hard riding. If I'm going to shut it down, I first loosen the gas cap and then hit the kill switch, and this seems to help a ton when restarting it. When I do go to restart it, I hold the throttle about half to fully open, and it usually restarts after one or two pulls. Loosening the gas cap was a tip I got from my friend I bought the sled from. He's a sled mechanic and said it was something about pressure in the gas lines on warmer days.
