Whistlin Jack's Thursday

about 8-6 inches coming down fs road to jacks, Jack's only has about 4 inches on ground but enought to ride across field at cabins to get to parking lot. Was not bad. Just the parking lot which is plowed and pavement.

Also they were cautioning me that the roads are not closed and in the past guys have been ticketed for riding on the FS roads. This has never happen to me but that's just what the guys at Jack's were saying. If people are still driving on the FS roads they will not make it very far based on how much snow was on them.

ok, just talked to the mayor of cliffdale, ( Whistlin jacks area ) I guess the sherriff hasnt written anyone up or confiscated any sleds yet but said they might if they catch people riding over there, bottom line is a few years back a snowmobile ran into his son's truck over there and they are worried about it happening again. I guess you can ride over there but be carefull and alert, they dont do much patroling but if you do get caught you can be issued a ticket,
just for info

Has anyone been hassled riding on the Greenwater side? I am planning to ride later in the week but don't feel like getting a ticket and/or sled confiscated. Thanks

Looks like sheriff has nothing else better to do over there than to harrass the snowmobilers. Hunting seasons are over in that area and the sheriff is probably bored with nothing going on or no one else to bother. Milk creek road, rock creek road and gold creek roads are all closed due to this past springs flooding. Im sure sheriff will be focusing his efforts on little naches, spring creek and other popular logging/access roads to good riding areas looking for offenders.

Bingo you nailed it, sherriff and son are both pricks. Dont put it past him to do all he can to make your life miserable.

I own a cabin near Cliffdell and have for a number of years. Have gotten to know quite a few of the locals in the valley and most feel that sheriff acts too tough for his britches, that with wearing that badge allows him to do as he d@#$mn well pleases with no respect for others. Some of the long time locals have said that its too bad it wasnt like the old west where you could run the sheriff out of town.

He seems okay to me. Don't break the law or try and bend the rules and there won't be any problems. Also there is a late archery hunt up there thats starts Nov 23rd through Dec 3 (or something like that). Just a heads up, more vehicles and more LEOs.

Correct, late Archery runs through 12/8. I don't know if the Sheriff is a dick or not, but the FS roads are closed to snowmobiles until they are bermed and posted closed to wheeled vehicles.

I can tell you that it's pretty frustrating to snowshoe a couple miles back in to hunt and get run over by sleds.

Worse when it's your friends on the sleds and you talk to them about it, explain the laws, and the next day, they run over you again . . . . sigh.
