Whistler-Pemberton official 09-10 thread

looking for someone to ride with starting on tuesday and the rest of the week. i am home from camp and all my buddies are working. whistler area

rode Brandywine today, got there early and was one of the first groups up, had a blast. the meadows had about 15-20 cm of powder on top of a rain crust with lots of snow under that. The trail up is rough, slushy and dirty as it was really warm down low. Visibility was poor, but had a great day.

Avy ally wasn't so whooped up, only a few guys up that way. Was up Rutherford on Friday, awesome day with blue sky and knee deep light stuff up high, trail was cr@p though.

Some pics from Friday

To the person who took my gas..Thanks

We went up the Hurley on Saturday and I was rushing to get ready. I looked at my bungee on my gas rack and was going to swap it out but forgot. When we got into Hope creek I realized my two jerrycans were MIA. I suspected that they must have gone sailing off when I bottomed really hard on a few waterbars!!! Well I found my jerrycans just above the trucks but the gas was gone!!! After strapping the empty cans back on I noticed something in the snow.

$20 bucks....Wow that was cool.

I hope my lost gas helped whoever forgot to fill their sled that morning!!!

Good Karma!:beer;

Thanks

Yeah.....conditions have deteriorated fast!! I also rode there yesterday. I was actually the first one in the parking lot and the last one to leave. That custy hard snow underneath the little bit of pow sucked!! Good thing we found some good stuff in the trees towards the end of the day or I would have been disappointed. Huge difference in the last few times out. Wanted to ride today but when we woke up in Whistler this morning it was pouring rain and had way too many beers last night at the Dublin Gate! :beer;

Nice Pics Ray!! I am jealous!! Had to work on Friday past but riding this coming Friday if we get more snow and the weather cooperates.

$10 to register . I heard it's a $500 fine for no registration any truth to that?

Here is the link to the All Terrain Motor Vehicle Act. They can fine you up to 500$ if they want, if you're not clearly displaying your registration decal on your sled.

Super lame, I was under the impression it was suggested but not mandatory...

Hey I know its off topic..but

I this is only for the benefit of the location.

If you have a XP and if you live in the Whistler corridor I have a set of shock tower vents that I have no need for. The vents are aluminum framed and a mirror image of themselves to either side. I'm not going to run them, if you could use them shoot me a PM.
There yours if ya can use em, I live in Squamish

I like Red Stripe

Motor Vehicle (All Terrain) Act

[RSBC 1996] CHAPTER 319

So it must be an expired act :)

They have to make it easier to register. I have no problem paying ten bucks. My sleds are not hot, I own them both but the DMV in North Vancouver requires me to give them a title cert and one of my sleds came from the WA and the other form the Yukon and neither place gives titles just bills of sale :(

What 2 do????

I'm dealing with the same problem. What are the options? I want to be legal and to avoid the issue altogether.

:mad:i did the sled from the states thing and registered it here after a ton of bull @$#@. after i was done i wished i had bought in canada for the extra doe!

I wonder if it's worth going this weekend? (need input for those who have more knowledge about the area)

Looking like a bluebird day but it is cold and with no new snow all week long I wonder if it's going to be an ice rink (it was very warm by the time we left brandywine last saturday).

Rumor has it under the new ORV framework there will be a means to register previously unregistered offroad vehicles without a title. We'll have to wait and see however.

Alot of people I know, including myself, don't have their machines registered either. I have Original bill of sale for my sled sold new from the dealership, and transfer papers from all previous changes of ownership but no actual regi. I just carry all this in the truck in case the CO's or RCMP want to make an issue of it. My sled looks like hell and is an 01 though, so I don't draw as much heat as you guys with the fancy new iron:beer;

anyone know the elevation of brohm. at brandy you could get above the crust (atleast last fri) but not sure if brohm is too low. going riding tomorrow and fri just not sure where. whats the trail at rutherford like?

If any PVSC members want to express their opinion on the condition of the trail the monthly meeting is tonight at the comunity center 7:30

The cabin at Brohm is just under 5100 feet and the Shark Fin at Brohm (highest allowable point without going out of bounds) is 6390 feet. Metaldome Bowl at Brandywine is just over 5000 feet, the first plateau below the Gauntlet is 6200 feet. The highest "accessable" point at Brandywine is the top of the tennis ball which is 8240 feet.

I will guarantee there is more snow at Brohm so far this year than at Metaldome. Have not been back very far yet this season but I am sure it is deep at Grizzly and that nice pocket at the base of Ring Mountain but Rentaldome (Metaldome) there are still big rocks showing.
