Whistler-Pemberton official 09-10 thread

I also read in the paper this morning that they are keeping the ski-jump area in place so we can say goodbye to Callaghan Valley, Sproatt and other areas forever:mad:

i thought they were closed forever anyway. sleds are a disturbance to the bears in the valley but the construction, paved roads and power lines are all good. democracy went out the window when the olympics were announced and vanoc has no one to answer to. money talks and sledders just dont have that type of influence. its a shame you have to run to mexico during the best time of year to avoid the bs. wish i had the loot, but i'd be burning gas in the pow somewhere. have fun on the beach.:beer;

RGM, do you know if PVSC is mailing out passes?

I don't think the club is mailing out passes since most members are local and got one in the mail anyways.

As for Callaghan and Sproat after the games are over we need to start getting these areas back. A few protest rides might be in order.

So far it's only closed for the olympic security b.s. I herd they were going to close Sp Mountain because 2 stroke oil leaks into Rainbow lake (according to granola hippies). However after a recent study it was discovered after a water test that is has traces of dog and human pooh no oil. So pack up your granola bars, your acoustic guitar, ty dy shirt, and that shi**y smelling natural soap and take a hike somewhere else cause your polluting our drinking water stupid!

Rode Bradywine Friday Januray 22nd, up through avalanche alley into the back came back down the "S" chute. Lots of snow in the last week a little heavy down low, foot or two of powder up top. Fresh tracks all day long. Thats my buddy's sled in the creek, bit of a deley in the afternoon but I needed a break by then anyway - thanks to the guys who stopped by to help us get it out. Built a ramp and eventually rode it out luckly no damage to the sled or rider, says he was going pretty slow - doing a little sight seeing I guess.

Beter get up there before its shut down for the olympics. I thinks its closed February 1st until about the middle of March.

LMAO!!!

Conditions have been Excellent all week but hardly anyone is out riding. Trail up Rutherford is the best it has ever been. The last big storm system we had dumped 150 cm in a week. This with a bit of wind has pretty much covered up all the cravasses on the Icecap. Still lots of open spots on the creeks though

Hiked up there a couple of years ago. 4 pit toliets up there, don't this greenies understand sh!t flows down hill? The erosion from the trails is just unbelivable, water has cut the trail down over knee deep in some spots, As for signs of sledding, NONE! Yea and we saw people with their dogs up there

Ride to Bralorne?

Thinking of riding over to Bralorne next weekend. Not been up since before the Pineapple Express rolled through. Anybody been over recently? Is there still enough snow on the East Hurley and in Bralorne to ride in? Thanks.

Hey folks, i know this is not conditions related, but I am looking for response from sea to sky sledders only and figured this would be the best spot. Shoot me down if neccessary. I am looking to buy a single sled deck for my tacoma. Found a guy (toyup) in Boise that makes what looks to be a good one and at a decent price. Only challenge is getting them up here. I have a buddy who was interested, so talked to toyup about meeting halfway. Unfortunately buddy is not interested anymore, so I am looking for someone else to split the costs of going to get the decks. If you are keen, pm me and we'll go from there. Looking to make this happen asap, and go to get them as soon as they are ready (he said about a week from when we place the order).

Cheers,

ALEX

Looking for a riding partner for this weekend or next. Brohm, Whistler or Pemberton. Pm or email me. Thanks

Shawn

Access to Bralorne over Hurley

Thinking of riding over to Bralorne next weekend. Not been up since before the Pineapple Express rolled through. Anybody been over recently? Is there still enough snow on the East Hurley and in Bralorne to ride in? Thanks.

AYUP, I rode over the Hurley (including East Hurley) Saturday Jan 23 and back Sunday the 24th. Offloaded at the main parking lot where the logging operation is (3-4KM from the bridge over the Lillooet river)... the main Hurley was in great shape and a fast ride. The East Hurley was pretty haggered... not that bad though and being 13KM its doable. You might want to call the Mineshaft Pub though.. Bruce is waiting on parts for his groomer and I think he's intending on grooming the E. Hurley.

The riding up there is amazing.. its high enough that the snow conditions are awesome. We've had a dozen awesome deep snow sunny days there since Christmas... last Saturday (Jan 23rd) was epic conditions.

Another way to access Bralorne is via Hope Creek and the Noel.. you can avoid the East Hurley this way and come into Bralorne from the south trail. If you haven't done it before I wouldn't recommend it... its not the most traveled route.

Don't tell too many people about Bralorne though ;-) ... its the treasured spot!

I believe according to the club website this past weekend is the last weekend to ride brandywine.

"Reminder to get in some more riding before we are SHUT DOWN for the Olympics until March sometime. Sunday the 31st of Janurary is the LAST DAY at Brandywine until March 22"

Lingzing... Was up there sunday... road in is plowed to the parking lot, little bit patchy for the first 3 - 4 km then good to go... trail and snow are great once you are past the main climb... only went up with the touring sleds since I was taking relatives up and they had never sledded before but some of the guys coming down said the conditions were great higher up. We only went 30ish kms in, up for a picnic.

I'd just like to thank whoever "rescued" my friends "abandoned" sled today while we were sled-skiing on the ice-cap past the yurt. Thank god we had other sleds to get down on, it's not like people ever go skiing and leave sleds at the bottom of the hill while doing tandem laps, or go touring, or possibly even overnighting.

We got off the hill in the dark at 7 because of you. Sleds are hardly "abandoned" after an hour or two of sitting at the bottom of a ski run, especially if the skiers are waiting at the top for light to shoot photos. You're lucky nobody is spending the night freezing their *** off up there because you wanted your own ride down and didn't want to tandem down the woops, or possibly you were hoping to claim the sled after a week of sitting at the RCMP lot. Who knows. In the future, please smarten the hell up.
