Looking to get onto a Timbersled snow bike for next winter, looking to pick up a bike in the meantime. Need to find the best street legal enduro that will work well as a snowbike . . . where we have the ability to rode in the summer we need street plates.

Looking at:
KTM 350 or 500 EXC
Husqvarna FE 350 or 501
BETA RS 430 or 500

Open to other suggestions and even some models that are a couple years old.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Husky 501 and KTM 500 exc are great choices. Lot of those bikes in the woods. I lean to the Husky 501 cause it's drop dead sexy. Get a white powder coated frame on your kit too and you have just about the best looking bike on snow.

I was on a 500exc this season and it left just a little to be desired. I just felt like it needed more power. If you put exhaust a fuel controller and maybe some other mods it'd be good but they are heavy and the gears are short/ powerband in the wrong place. Ill have a kx450f for my main bike this year and my 500 as a backup/extra.

I was looking toward the 501, but found it was very hard to find... that being said, IMO you'll have a much harder time getting any kind of decent price on it vs the ktm 500 which is much more common. I ended up going with the 450 husky just because I couldn't find a 501 for anywhere NEAR the price.

I still love the 501 though if you can justify retail or close to it, and can find one.

I have located a couple 501's locally, but they are at full list! Same dealer has a couple old 2013 TE 449's for around 6K, brand new . . . really makes me wonder what I really need!

MX bikes are usually a lot cheaper and will make a better snowbike. Ever thought of making a MX bike like the SX/XC street legal? I've been thinking about supermoto'ing mine for summer use.

Might be worth a look, we are not looking to ride pavement with them . . . just forest roads that need a plate to slide through the loop hole. KX450F's and YZ450F's are everywhere and for some pretty good prices

A buddy of mine and his other buddy bought new KTM 690s and put an LT kit on them two years ago.

They are big guys. They loved them.
I rode it once...on hard spring snow. Was a steep learning curve for me. But I've never been a bike person.
