Which one to buy?

Here's a little info on all of them that might help you make a decision. I will tell you the bad and the good IMHO about each sled.

The 2010 Dragon
Negatives-Has maybe the worst motor in the history of Polaris and that is saying something. Expect to put pistons in it every 500 miles and usually when they come apart they will take out the rest of the motor also.
Positives-I'm not a Polaris fan but I didn't think the Dragon was a bad chassis but once again the motor was beyond bad.

2007 M1000
Negatives - It had an all new primary clutch that used 4 weights instead of 3 three. They claimed it kept things balanced better but they didnt last worth a darn. If for some reason it still has the original clutch plan on replacing it soon. It also had mechanical reverse in the diamond drive and was somewhat problematic. The 1000's with 153"s just didnt have enough track and would trench or spin all the snow out from under you.
Positives-The motor can make huge horsepower with a few minor mods that are pretty inexpensive. The motor is also bullet proof. The power claw track that the M's had in 2009 make a world of difference on the older 100's and would be a must.

2007 M8
Negatives-The 2007 M8 doesnt have the HO motor and was honestly low on power compared to most of the other 800's. It had lots more torque than the others though so you still got everywhere they did. It just wasn't as snappy.
Positives-once again bullet motor. I know some people claim the older M8 motors take to boost better than the newer HO motors.

If it was me making that decision and I had a little more money for a can and track the decision would be simple the M1000. If you are interested in a 2009 M1000 I happen to know where one for sales is pm me.

Around here in my price range those are my options, the M1000 is nice but 3300 miles and bone stock and the dragon already had the motor update and it's got 1800 miles.

Keep looking

Strong this.

Did you intentionally look for the most unreliable models? If so, you should add an 05 rmk 900.

All douchebaggary aside I'd have to say the dragon is probably your best bet. Lowest miles and newest. The newer the poo800 the better it is(still not saying much) and depending on what update your talking about it could potentially be ok engine wise. But those engines are notorious for piston issues.

You can have a great time on any of those sleds. Everyone that is saying to wait probably owned one if them and when they were new they loved them. You don't have to have a new sled to have a great time snowmobiling. In 7 years everyone saying don't buy a 07 will say don't buy a '14 cuz the 2021 are so much better.

Are the new sleds better, absolutly. Do I own a 2014? Yes. If I had to choose between riding an 07 and not riding though I would take the 07 any day.

I have 3 1983-6 Yamaha Bravos that my kids ride. I could sell my new sleds and ride one of those every week and still have fun. It's a different fun but still fun.

Ride all if them if you can and see which you like the best buy it and ride it like you stole it.

Don't be offended that he never even considers a ski Doo.

Not offended one bit. I understand that he is on a limited budget. Some people just can't always afford the best. I had a 99 Summit that I sold last year that probably would have fit in the same price range as the 3 he is looking at.:face-icon-small-hap

But back to the question I would probably go with the M8

1st answer - none of the above

2nd answer = dragon with a fix kit, just because it's the closest to the newer sled dynamics. Without the engine addressed, it is somewhat of a timebomb. The 07 cats were both felt down on power when stock, unless they're already modded up. Diamond drive was sketchy, clutches were sketchy. I'm going to catch hell for this, but in our group over the years we have towed more 07-08 cats than any other sleds. DD's, clutches, motors, just bad luck I guess.
