Which Dragon 2 buy

Hey guys havent been on in a while but its about that time of year again. I got my pro x2 up for sale and am looking for a new sled. I definately want an 800 dragon or dragon switchback 800. Wondering what sled i was going to have the least problems with since everyone is arguing over their iffy motors. thanks

You should be aware that they both have the same engine, or do you know thatalready? It would only be the options (shocks, track, etc.) that would change.

From the factory, yes, the newer ones were supposed to be more reliable (stock mapping year to year). That was the plan anyway. But that's a good question that I have wondered about -- whether an updated 08 engine would be identical to a 2010. Any one know if the bottom end is different, perhaps?

IMO, and from what I've surmised, the engines (or at least top ends) should all have the same reliability, provided they have the same 2010 updates.

somebody was telling me that the 800 was dynoing at 143 hp. anyone know if there is any truth to this. I think polaris was claiming 150. If this is true I think I would buy a 600.

I just upgraded to an 09 Dragon 8 SP. It is a step forward from my 05 Edge. I was looking for a 6 but couldn't pass up the deal I got on this one. It seems like every sled maker has some sort of issue with their sleds so I wouldnt let all of the talk scare you. Do your research, make sure the updates are down and if you have any doubts Dont buy it. It seems that if look you will find as many happy Dragon owners out there as disruntled ones.

what is the right price to pay for a generaly stock d10-d9-d8. I definately do not want to go to the 6 or 7 hundred. I really have enjoyed riding my pro x2 800. Seems like I actually got lucky for once and didn't get one with crank issues.

I would sell my 800 and go back to a 700 any day! the 7's are way more reliable and if you know how to ride a sled you don't have to worry about the what 10hp differents. and that 7 will out ride a 800 edge stock for stock any day.

I picked up my 09 D8 for 6400. Completely stock w/ 1500 miles.

The 2010 sleds have a different top end than the 08 and 09.... TRUST ME... Also, i beleive that the 08 sleds had two piston rings and the 09 and 10 have a single piston ring and a different piston.

No, 2008 came with single ring piston that was recalled and replaced in 2009 with non-defective single ring piston that was then recalled again to all sleds, not just one running poorly, and replaced with a dual ring piston and lower compression head that brought the 2008 up to 2010 specs.

First time I have heard the 2010 top end is different than a 2008 assuming it has been updated. What is different about them?

supposedly they won't fit in the case? I know this becasue my engine went out of my sled over christmas. My dealer over nighted a 2010 top end and it didn't fit. Called up polaris adn they said you can only use a 2009 top end on a 2009.... so i was out of a sled for a week. :preggers:
