TOOL TIME
SLP? Polaris? Team? I need to pull motor to fix my broken mounts and engine strap so I will need to re-align everything when I put it back together. I currently don't have a bar and I am wondering which one is best? I am planning on ditching the stock straps and running a Fastrax motor plate if it makes a difference.
There's pics of the different tools in my Thread under "INCREASING YOUR IQ" and posted below
I have both the POLARIS tool and the SLP tool.
The POLARIS /SPX tool (pictured on top, GOLD plated in color and price) has approx .070"-.075" of "kick" built into it,
which may be more than what you want.
I prefer the SLP tool (pictured just below the POLARIS GOLD plated tool) because it's straight (actually parallel.) no kick (but I did check it for straightness, as Mountainhorse reported a defective bar that he had run across)
Most performance shops such as SLP recommend only .020" to .040" of kick (ZERO-.020" if you're running their push arm on the MAG side)
Old Off set tool for button style clutches (pictured just above the c/c tool) 5/8" offset measures to backside of Secondary
I got
the c/c tool (pictured at the bottom) from HI-PERF.com but you can easily fab one your self out of some scrap 1/8" or thicker aluminum or steel. Just drill a 1" hole to slide onto the jack-shaft, and mark the bottom edge w/black marker and "lightly tap" the top of the crank snout and it will leave a mark to measure to.(11.00" from the
edge of the 1" hole to the crank center=11.5" c/ c is where you want to be on IQ's + EDGE's)
Hope this helps
