Which Clutch Alignment Tool?

SLP? Polaris? Team? I need to pull motor to fix my broken mounts and engine strap so I will need to re-align everything when I put it back together. I currently don't have a bar and I am wondering which one is best? I am planning on ditching the stock straps and running a Fastrax motor plate if it makes a difference.

I bought the SLP alignment tool, PN 20-191. It'll work on both the TSS-98 and the TSS-04. This one is $29.95

I have found the polaris tool is the best, they have the proper kink built in so if you use one set the alignment so it sits square on both clutches, if the secondary is gapped at one end, try loosening the chaincase bolts and move the top of the case back and forth and see if it doesnt align it right up vrs slotting motor mounts...

There's pics of the different tools in my Thread under "INCREASING YOUR IQ" and posted below

I have both the POLARIS tool and the SLP tool.

The POLARIS /SPX tool (pictured on top, GOLD plated in color and price) has approx .070"-.075" of "kick" built into it, which may be more than what you want.

I prefer the SLP tool (pictured just below the POLARIS GOLD plated tool) because it's straight (actually parallel.) no kick (but I did check it for straightness, as Mountainhorse reported a defective bar that he had run across)

Most performance shops such as SLP recommend only .020" to .040" of kick (ZERO-.020" if you're running their push arm on the MAG side)

Old Off set tool for button style clutches (pictured just above the c/c tool) 5/8" offset measures to backside of Secondary

I got the c/c tool (pictured at the bottom) from HI-PERF.com but you can easily fab one your self out of some scrap 1/8" or thicker aluminum or steel. Just drill a 1" hole to slide onto the jack-shaft, and mark the bottom edge w/black marker and "lightly tap" the top of the crank snout and it will leave a mark to measure to.(11.00" from the edge of the 1" hole to the crank center=11.5" c/ c is where you want to be on IQ's + EDGE's)

Hope this helps
