Where to stay between Denver and Park City?

Hey all. Just like the title says, I'm going to be driving I-80 from Denver, CO to Park City, UT in a few weeks, and I need a hotel room somewhere in between. I can't drive straight through because I get into Denver late in the day, and I've got two small kids and a wife who will want to crash somewhere overnight. Would like to get about half the trip done the first day, and the rest the next morning, but can be flexible with that. Looking at a map, it looks like Rawlins, WY, is about halfway in between, so I was thinking about staying there, but am open to other suggestions as well. Doesn't need to be fancy. Just clean.

Thanks in advance.

Just me but I would take 70 out of Denver west to 40 and right into Park City and stay in Steamboat or Craig. 2 lane most of the way but a much more scenic drive than across Wyoming on 80

I second that if you want to see anything/do anything with the family. I-80 is sagebrush and wind.

Thanks. Will probably do that. How much time will going that route add over I-80? My kids are pretty good in the car, but would still prefer to minimize road time.

I believe just a couple hours. You will se very little traffic also. I 80 tween Cheyenne and Salt Lake is bumper to bumper trucks

There are several places to stop, rest and enjoy the scenery along Hwy 40. The kids would love the dinasaur museum in Vernal.

Also from Kremmling to Heber (30 minutes away from Park City) takes about 6.5 hours, add 1.5 hours along I-70 to get to Silverthorne and another 40 minutes to take Hwy 9 North (Kremmling) to Hwy 40. It's not a bad drive at all, better than I-80 which is subject to massive winds and heavy trucking. It's the main trucking artery for the US. You will see some big trucks on I-80 that you normally would not see.

If you choose I-80, you MUST stop in Wamsutter. It's a must see and you have to get some deep fried chicken gizzards. NOM NOM NOM
